Hi, I've read a lot of good things about these seats on this site. Are they as good as reported? Are there any downsides (apart from the price!)? Best regards, Paul

Still the most comfortable aftermarket seat I've tried. I've been trying to convince myself to buy them for four years now but always end up bottling out as I don't want to risk them being not so comfortable at the end of 300 mile drive.

They certainly would be my choice of aftermarket seat. One is expensive, but then the thought of two, keeps putting me off...perhaps next year.

I'm also looking to upgrade my seats but I want to try some out first. I find the standard seats uncomfortable and too wide and I slop from side to side around the bends. I'm hoping for a snug fit with zero movement plus a bit of comfort for the longer journeys. I figured a motorsport show (or the National) would be a good place to try some out, as I can't bring myself to pay top dollar for a pair of seats only to find them uncomfortable.

I don't understand the hype around this seat: they are heavy (6kg) compared to Reveries (3kg for Mulsanne B ), they touch the head impact bolster once fitted, thus not allowing to fully move back the seat.

Glambee many thanks for your advise. Constructive suggestions whether encouraging or discouraging was what I was hoping to receive. Many thanks. I'll check out the Mulsanne B. There are some users of this site that do not realise that as soon as a respondant starts getting nasty and swearing that is the point where adults ignore what they have to say. Best regards, Paul

I Have also been looking at these type of seats as i can see some bolster wear coming through on mine and rather than going down the retrim route was debaiting a tillett or mulsanne, i like the idea of one though strangeley? i have seen pics of a vx somewhere with just one tillett and thought it looked good although im pretty sure odd seats are not to everyones taste.

I have the B5 and have to say the quality is great!! I got it as I am competing and wanted to stay safe as these seats are rock solid! Wouldn;t like to think wht would happen in a serious shunt with some of the paper thin seats around at the moment....

I think it may well be. I have concerns about some of the seats about and the strength or lack of they will have in a shunt. I just pray those that have then fitted will remain shunt-less.

I have the Cobra Racer 7 in mine and they are tight, no flopping about in them. Welcome to try them at the National.

Time Attack scrutineer told me that when checking a car he grabs the cage and tugs on it. If the car moves it's ok, if the cage moves and car remains still then there is a problem. He says he uses the same check for seats.... You're lucky in the VX's that most harness bars hold the harness directly behind the eye hole in most aftermarket seat meaning in an accident the seat is under very little strain. With my cage the harness bar is much lower (around rib height) so harness comes up at around 45 degrees, through the seat, then over me. Therefore in an accident I've heavilly reliant on the seat holding up to the load. I therefore didn;t feel comfortable with my JK seat and went for a rigid seat.

Also I know there is some background work getting the B5 and subframe homologated. Most other seats would have no chance so if I enter any endurance events later in the year I know I'm in good shape!

Guys you have all been very helpful, thanks for that. I particularly appreciate Jim's comments, it is easy to assume a seat will be safe however Jim's comment made me think twice about making assumptions. I am going to try some B5's (and others) this afternoon. Best regards, Paul

My car will be at the National so anyone wanting to try the seat are welcome to thumbsup

You will have to be pretty agile to get into my car though! It takes sersious agility to get past the roll cage struts!!

2nd comfiest seat for the VX after the cloth ones :) I've spent days and days sat in Tillet B5's and aside from the comical back farts you can do they are faultless imho.

Dear reader. I have finally tried the B5. Yes they are great but although I have the body proportions of a marathon runner, I am tall. Meaning these seats have an almost unbearably tight grip around the bottom of my rib cage. If you are five foot ten inches with a slim build these seats are going to perfect for you. I have to agree with Jim's comments about strength. Even the GRP version of Tillett was far stronger than many of the carbon versions offered by other manufacturers. There is more to a seat than the basic statistics! Best regards, Paul
