Hi folks,

I have a Spitfire brace bar on my VXT, and would like to fit a 3" exhaust, but I suspect the pipe may touch the bar

Posted Image

Is there any option (2Bular, Tullet, other...) that would allow me to keep the brace bar?

Thanks,

Nicolas

If you get a bespoke exhaust made, they can route it any way you like to avoid the brace bar.

A straight bar would have fouled my 3"2Bular so got PSR Automotive to make this up. Since the photo it's got a beefier centre adjuster and it's been powder coated but it's basically the same.

But is there enough room in this area to have a different route?

Thanks, but how did you manage to refit the undertray then?

Apologies, I forgot to say I have an MMG diffuser which uses spacers on the 13mm fixing bolts This plus a single washer gives a JUST enough clearance.

Allegedly the 2bular has been tweaked so that the very latest version fits exactly as an oem does, but obviously with the larger diameter it could still cause a problem. Worth a phone call I would of thought, though?

Just a bit of feedback on the issue of fitting a spitfire brace bar with a 3" tullet exhaust.
I was concerned at the clearance that I wouldn't have but I had a good measure, Re measure etc and went for it.
I fitted it this week and there was nothing to worry about, it fits fine and enough room to fit my fingers in between brace bar and exhaust and also engine mount.
It was dead easy to fit and didn't even need to take exhaust off, so I'm made up.

I removed 2 of the bolts off each toe link brackets, then attached the new brace bar brackets to the toe link brackets, slid them down to give enough room. Marked the hole required to be drilled in the sub frame. Removed brackets and drilled, then bolted up firmly the 2 brackets together with the small nut and bolt. and then the brace bar to the subframe. Then made bar tight between fixings and nipped up brace bar bolts.
The kit also comes with some rubber washers and normal washers to space the undertray away from the subframe near these brackets. (this is about 7mm ish.)

Awsome and hopefully this will help spread the load on hard track use and not fracture my subframe.

Thanks again to Gaz, for all his help back and forth with measurements and suggestions. Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

I did have some pics of my fingers between the engine mount and brace and also exhaust and brace but they have gone corrupt on my sd card. I'll retake even next time I'm under there on Monday.

I've got a 2tubular 3" and standard spitfire brace bar fitted too. Mine was a very early 4-1 2tubular, I think Nick and I had the first two made. Not sure how they differ from the latest ones.

I have the one that bolts on the rear of the toe links and its tight.  I have about3-4mm of clearance on the exhaust so need to get a drive out at some point.  Unfortunately house stuff has taken over car stuff so I've not had chance to check for issues.  Fingers crossed it'll be fine though.

If you send me your email address Nicolas on the messenger I can send you the brace fitting guide which covers the options and other brace fittings.
