Just got my notes for Snetterton this Thursday and even though its a 105db static, its only 92db drive by. I set off the drive bys at Donington and Goodwood (which is 96 db), has anyone had any problems at Snetterton, particularly sc cars? Thanks Martin s

never even occured to me about noise at Snetterton and I was keeping right by the pitlane wall, no idea where the meters are, got noise tested at 102db in the morning.

I had no problems at all a couple of months back. Wasn't even aware there was a drive-by limit and suspect it'll be @20 metres or similar. Passed the static by miles. I too fell foul of the noise meter at Donington. :(

@Donington? Yep. Stupid fecking noise meter is on the gantry above the start/finish line. Registered 101.5db. I knew it was a risk all day, so spent the bulk of the day short shifting and almost coasting along that section. Late in the afternoon I could see an M3 about a third of a lap ahead so thought I'd chase it down, so nailed it out of the last corner and across the start/finish line. Sure enough, next lap, came around the final corner and instantly spotted the marshall at the end of the pit lane looking suspiciously like he was holding a flag. He congratulated me on being the loudest car of the day and said if I wanted to carry on, I'd have to drive like I had been for the rest of the day.

So Donnington is on my list of can't go's as well as Castle Combe, Bedford and Goodwood. Any others I need to avoid?

Donnington is a joke! You can't hear most of the cars because of the planes taking off and landing.

Noise is an issue, and it is such a fantastic circuit. More noisy friendly circuits are Mallory, Anglesey(on the right days) Blyton and Cadwell

Since when has Snetterton been an issue for noise? I've been there many times before the 300 circuit & never had a problem & my car isn't quiet. I've always just managed to get through the static test & never had a drive by problem. ...Damn, I was planning on doing a day there this summer. Cliffie, Castle Coombe is absolutely fine too, your car is quieter than mine! I've never had a problem there & have not even considered the fact that I wouldn't be passed.

Static tested at Cadwell last time at 96 so hopefully be OK for most circuits, it is the drive bys that I will fail.

No noise issues except for one exige that tested static 106. Circuit quite technical now and took me a while to get into it. Enjoyed it though. Quite hard on the car I thought.

106? :o Wooohoooo, there's finally a louder car than mine out there, somewhere. Thought it was quite heavy on the brakes (which was mostly down to my ABS at the time) in a couple of places but other than that, I found it to be quite car friendly. Will definitely do a couple more days there this year as it seems to be decent value.

Had no noise issuesd at Snetterton, static tested at 94 and told that my car is now quieter than Sutols sc when driving by, previously had been told much louder. It could well be that my sound proofing panels have worked! We had a great day, there were 5 vx's there and managed to get plenty of track time in between downpours even though the track was flooded for over 2 hours. Lot let the day go on a bit longer and really enjoyed it. The track starts flowing after a while but not my favourite. Only downside was I shredded yet another sc belt which again ripped some wires apart, luckily I am getting quite good at fixing it now! Martin s

Think I measured 96dB on the static at something silly like 5500rpm there.

Ouch. Definitely sounds like your pulley needs moving in or out fractionally. Other than the initial belt I had on that nearly disintegrated within 2 days of the conversion (that BoT sorted on my way to France), I've had no problems with either pulley I've had on the car.

To be fair I was really basing it on how I felt - which was knackered by the end

I've never had a problem with belts. Something ain't right mate.
