Right,

So I have a strange issue....
I have the following DRL controller (see instructions below).
Posted Image

When I first plug the controller into the battery, the DRLS light up for a 2 second self test.
But when I connect the "For "+" Signal Control to a 12v feed", the DRLS do not come on.

So, am I missing something obvious?
I'm using a fuse tap, to take a switched live off the fuel pump fuse. (ie when the fuel pump is on, the 12v feed is live).
I've even tried connecting the signal control wire to the 12v + side of the battery, no joy.

This is the 2nd DRL controller I've had, thinking the first one was faulty, but I guess I'm doing something wrong as they are both the same.

Regards,
Lee.

Is this on the MX-5? I know nothing about them but does it run any form of CAN to control the lights and other electrical/sensor related stuff? That might balls things up for the DRL controller. It certainly does on my Audi when you try to do anything vaguely electrical.

Deffo not Canbus related. This is "direct" electrics rather than canbus linked. Pure 12v and 0v thumbsup

/slap for canbus :P CAN or go home  I'm assuming you want to have DRL's (side lights or new light units?) on when in key pos 2, and them turn off when indicating? Any chance of a linky to the place you got it from? Might help my fact finding mission for you :) Failing that I have several controllers at work that could do the job for you but they are £300+

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...L-/160599682063 Same as these. Also here: http://cgi.ebay.co.u...i-/370497487910 I bought the bottom linked ones. But I paid €150 (no idea why he has them so expensive currently when everyone sells them for €150 ish). As I understand it, the DRL controller should be connected to battery (permanent supply) and then when it senses 12v through the "Control" it then activates the 12v feed to the DRLs. I've just tried connecting both control wires (both red and black) and no change.

Ahhhh I get it. What ever the signal is that you want the lights to come on with (eg key position 2/switched live) you connect to the + control signal if its a +12V signal or to -signal if its a grounded one.

Since its most likely to just be a relay, I cant see what the issue is unless the 'signal' from the car goes away after 2-3 seconds.
