Afternoon everyone, Might be a bit of a newbie question, but has anyone made holes in the shoulders of standard seats to accept harnesses before? I'm sure i have seen this done and it may have been in the thorney vx on one of the 'wreaks to ritches' episodes. Is it safe to do this/ will it have adverse effects on the strength of the seats? My reasoning for asking this is that i would like to run harnesses in my vx, and wouldnt be happy having them over the tops of the seats as i dont think that would be very safe. Also my dad likes to use my vx, and he wouldnt be over the moon if i put a pair of more buckety seats in it, he has enough of a struggle getting out of it as it is :P Any thoughts :) cheers, Will

A messy but perfectly do-able job.

The other option is to get the seats re-trimmed after cutting. Gives you a bit more scope for the position and size of the cut-out.

My seats...

I bought them from Ianrm a few years ago, so don't know who did them for him, but would imagine it would be somewhere near Milton Keynes.

You'll find that you have little choice in the way you can position them and which grommets you can use. It's a easy enough job though here's mine -

You can stream the creases out of the leather afterwards.

I recommend buying your grommets directly from corbeau, option B grommet, they are a good fit and the beat deal I could find anywhere.

I like garyk's ones, they look like packman ghosts, or have I been taking too many mind altering drugs.
