That looks good but i mean make some other type of light fit. I was looking at the peugeot 307 headlights for the fronts. Can anyone do a photoshop with a few diffent headlamps in the vx as im going to ring the spray garage tomorrow and see what he says about it all.

I gave it a try with paint.net, but failed misserably.
These 307 aftermarket black ones, with halo led rings look pretty cool though.

Good luck with this.

Aftermarket Ford Focus ones seem to be the rightt shape and will be cheap and readilly available. I like the idea if it's done well and it's something I may explore in the future. Personally, average performance aside (even with HIDs) I quite like the originals.

Good luck with this. I see this as an unfortunate future inevitability with the obscene price of new and secondhand lamps. I've seen some somewhere but unfortunately cant remember where. i think they were pug ones though. How about astra ones?

Whatever is choosen, the moneymaker is in the adapter that fills in the gaps between original clam opening and the new lamp. If that could be done, without cutting into the clam (thus reversable) it would be awsome. If easily bounded in, and just requiring the seam to be filled up, and sprayed, we could have a hit.

Something like this for the front would be nice, no need for the plastic lens cover then either.

I don't think there is much mileage in trying to make something from another car fit, if you are molding some sort of adaptor you may as well go the whole way and make the whole thing.

as there are people that can muld CF and FG, could the main part of the lamp be moulded and just the ligts themselfs be replaced, thus removing the need for a cover ect..

Re looking at this idea.. for another back part of a headlight while still using the vx220 lens.. Pug 307 is same bulb types.. which helps and is only £20 from ebay...

Holy thread resurrection!

I'd thought about moulding the internal bit.  Just need a donor set of lamps.  I can't see anyone donating those!

Both lens are the same matching ones from the lotus...

Using the same vx lens (or replacements) then using the clam mount bracket ... or something along those lines...

Ive ordered a pug 307 light and will cut away as much as possible to see if it has any chance of fitting.

As long as the lights point forward... might work

That clam has been rebuild around the 307 lights.

Very curious on an attempt to build a spacer between the pug light and an oem clam.

I'd better hurry up. Can't have cars looking like that.

IMO. The main difference between a VX220 headlight and most headlights is the lack of a robust headlamp carrier system. Normally lights have a rear mounted carrier system and a lens with shroud to make it look good. If you use some metal brackets to mount the lamps at the rear (similar to the Elise approach) then you can have the front section of the headlight bolt in on top of that.

How's the progress going as you bought it up rather than me! Agree that looks gash, gaps are even worse than standard VX panel gaps.
