I'm gauging serious interest in another wheel option for VX220.

I've been in conversation with Speedline for the production of Type2120 (Turini) for the VX220 in the original VXR size and offsets.

Posted Image

2x Front 7x16" ET25, 5x110 pcd, 65.1mm centre bore
2x Rear 8x17" ET33, 5x110 pcd, 65.1mm centre bore
(Sizes given by Speedline themselves for the original VXR wheel production run).

We'd need around 10sets firm interested parties as there is a minimum order of slightly more to proceed, but it could well be a goer and a chance to get some decent lightweight wheels. Much lighter than VXR wheels (11/12Kg). The TD is marginally lighter and the OZ is still the lightest.

The weights are :-
7x16 = 8.5 to 9.8 depending on offset so ET25 will be under 9.0 kgs
8x17 = 8.5 to 9.2 kgs so ET33 approx 9.0kgs.

The reason the 17 inch is as light as the 16 inch is that the Turini in 17 inch and 18 inch are “Flow Formed” in construction and is approx 1.5kg lighter than a standard cast aluminum wheel. You can read about Flow Forming on their website, www.speedlinecorse.co.uk

Colours available are Silver, Anthracite, White, Gold, Satin Black, Gloss black.

The wheels would cost around £720 which is only £160 more than a new set of TDs and £100s less than the current value of Speedlines and OZs. Infact they will almost certainly be an apreciating asset given the current trend of rare wheels like the Speedlines and OZs( Speedlines retailed £600 in the sell off of 2006 new, and OZs retailled 700ish in 2005).

Most likely these will be for sale through JG's Mango Motorsport which could handle different payments etc.

Cheers,
Lee

Fitted to a VX220 (although in the pic, they are the 4stud wheels that require Lotus Hubs, in the group buy above they are standard fit 5stud.)

Did the front wheels for VXR use spacers?? I thought they used 25 mm off set plus 5 mm spacer. 20 mm front off set should keep the tyres away from the dampers... Best regards, Paul

Astra G (98-03) front splitter. Comes in 2 parts and rubber so can absorb impact without any damage. Cost about £25 for each side iirc.

I sort of agree with you. They are an older looking wheel, then again i suppose the VX is an oldish looking car. One thing is for certain, they look a million times better than TDs

Agreed I hate the TD's, but I think martin has hit the nail on the head.

IMO the Speedline's command top money because they are OEM and OZ's because they are the lightest.

Better may be investigating a group buy on one of the new lighter forged OZ's

Thought so. I've been thinking the same myself. What did you have to do to fit?

Thanks.
