Haha Just what I was going to say... But easy if you know how...If it was easy.... everyone would be doing it

Your sling box will only work if you have a decent upload speed and I think Virgin media give you something stupid like 256Kb so much you 50Meg Half duplex

At least 2mbps upstream on Virgin 50mbps service around here, Nick. So plenty enough to use a Slingbox but, it all depends on where you are connecting from and what their connection is like. I've found the Slingbox to be almost unusable from some big hotels that obviously have lots of guests hammering away at the hotel internet connection.and I think Virgin media give you something stupid like 256Kb so much you 50Meg Half duplex
What sort of TV are you actually trying to watch? If it's iPlayer or similar, much easier (and cheaper) to sign up to a UK proxy/vpn service and connect to iPlayer/4OD/ITV players from overseas. That will give you a UK IP address and get make iplayer believe you are in the UK.
I've got a VPN setup here on my Virgin connection but it's not straightforward and unless you have a router that has a built-in VPN server, then you're going to need a PC on 24/7 to be able to connect to it.

I live in Qatar and use VPNUK and they are amazing, I get all the UK channels etc and can go on restricted websites

Its only a few quid a month and they set it up for you and their help line is brilliant. I couldnt do without it.
Also I only pay once but can have it on my works computer, home computer, iphone, ipad and all works faultless.

Yea I get a very good upload speed so thats good I just recently brought a new belkin router and it's connected into my VM superhub, I will have a look at it, might be though the vpnuk might be a better less hassle idea, I am in Manchester tonight and your right these backwater city hotels do have slow connections and too many people using them

I will have a look at this seems it might be the best option then, shame as I thought having a high speed setup at home might of allowed me to use it from overseas.
