Has anyone done the full day course here?

I've always fancied a bit of rallying, but want a decent course - preferably one with plenty of driving time.

£299 seems like pretty good value, but perhaps that means there's more classroom than actual driving.

Full-day course

I don't know it but it looks as good as any other. Silverstone is quite good or the Red Letter type days do various taster / experience things in various locations. If you are eligle and apply for the yearly 'Rallyquest' that Silverstone runs you basically get to do what would be sold as a full day course for a heavilly discounted price. If you can get down Chippenham way and it's of interest I might let you go for a hoon in my MkII on a private 'stage' I have at my disposal. Can't show you much though if you where hoping to learn techniques etc.

Thanks for the offer on your private stage - it might be worth a trip on it's own! Maybe I'll give this course a go if it's as good as anything else. It would have to be RWD all the way though thumbsup

The wife bought me a rally day (my Escort RS200 had been off the road for a long time because of money issues and she knew I was missing ragging it's ass around sideways) and although the overall day was a great experience the driving part wasn't as long as I'd have hoped for plus it was using Astras not RWD  . I must admit that taking a MK1/2 Escort down a gravel stage does get the adrenaline flowing nicely, must be fun having your own private stage at hand to get the buzz when you feel like it. I sometimes wish I could have kept my old group 4 MK2, I even got offered another clubman car last week for £16k but the look on the wife's face was enough to let me know I couldn't afford another ex-wife :D

Well, I booked up and went last Friday. I went for a full day in the RS2000 and would say that it was pretty good value for money. Posted Image After a 4.5hr drive out of London after work we finally arived at the recommended B&B. It was a pretty nice place and after a decent full english we set out up the hills and into the forrest. I thought there was a lack of run off at Cadwell, but this was really something else. 60mph around the fire tracks in a pine forrest not even any dual control! In the areas where some of the trees had been felled there was a sheer drop down to the bottom of the hill on one side. Below is one of our group of 5 drivers making a (quite good) first attempt at a handbrake turn in front of the rest area. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoF129FfGfk&feature=related To end the day there was a "hot lap" around the forrest with David Higgins which was good fun. It was more like being in a boat than in a car as it slides left then right steering mainly with the throttle. Below is a clip of someone returning from the 3 mile roller coaster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbI2aJnlYow
