Anyone know the weight of the Z20LET engine (head and block) minus all the ancillaries; with turbo, manifolds, clutch, etc. removed? I'll be delivering the engine soon and need to plan a way to transfer from the VX into the back of my estate. The load area is level with the top of the rear subframe on the VX, so I'm thinking of jacking it up and shifting it onto a solid board to slide across into the car. If it is much heavier than 100-120 kg I may need to enlist some help to shift it across though.

I think the turbo engine is at least 500kg isn't it? That's why the VXT is such a lardy car no? :gayfight: As for the real weight, I'm sorry. I've no idea.

2 people can easily lift it into the back of the car once its at the right height. Not sure of the weight though.

I would go with 150-160kg.. This compares to other 4-cyl, iron block boat anchors... :poke:

I remember seeing a picture with the engine, gearbox and everything else being weighed on here a while back. IIRC it was 240KG.

Thanks Steve thumbsup So probably about 140 kg; discounting for the gearbox at 50 kg and all the other parts. Cheers.

I've lifted a bare engine (ie no ancillariers or gearbox attached) into and out of my estate car before with a friend. It's not easy but it is do-able.

+40 Kg makes little difference one you strap a mid sized turbo onto that strong iron block ;)
