Sorry for being so thick but when i changed the turbo i took one of the water pipes off which emptied the tank so when i was finished i only topped up with water. Because its getting cold now im off to buy some coolant but how much will i need? i just looked at halfords and its like £25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also do i just take one of those pipes off again to take the water out and then connect it back and pour 50/50 water and coolant?

The VXT holds 13.2L. It depends on if you want to do a full flush of the system of just replenish what is in there. Chances are if you have just changed a headers tank worth of fluid it will still be well within the freezing parameters needed. The lazy (and cheap) option would be to simply test the solution you have to see what level of protection it is reading and go from there. If your long life coolant is still quite young it's probably not worth the hassle of a full drain.

I'd just buy a litre of vauxhall coolant and top it up with that. I think the vauxhall stuff is £6 per litre. At 50/50 you can just make up a litre of 50/50, top it up, see if you need more and if needed make up the 2nd litre of 50/50

Ok so should i just buy a already mixed little bottle from morrisons petrol station? bleed a bit out from the bleed nipple on the tank then pour that in just incase?

How would i top it up as its full now? unscrew bleed nipple near the tank?

If you decide to bleed it there is a bleed nipple on the passenger side of the car behind the headlight for the front part and a bleed nipple on the passenger side in the engine compartment (can't remember exactly where) that you will probably need for a full flush. Careful with the one behind the passenger headlight as they are known to be a bit carp. Not sure how different it is on your turbo but guessing the front one is in the same place.

One has a corrosive element to it which I think is Pink. I am sure it was advised to use one or 'toher based on age of car? Glycol content etc

http://wiki.seloc.org/a/Coolant do not dispose of the old stuff down the drain, you must take it to your local council amenities site for disposal

:yeahthat:
That would be the responsible thing to do as it's nasty stuff. Alternatively tip it on the corner of your lawn, neibours cats will find the taste irresistible and you'll see a huge decline in the amount of sh!t left everywhere. thumbsup

I just bought one of them testers from halfords for £1.99 tested it, tested the coolant found it was a low so just bought a litre of blue coolant from wilcos (£4), removed some of the existing from the header tank and filled with new coolant, ran the car for a few days then did same again, coolant showing medium strength now, was going to repeat again until radiator went other week, so hopefully should have new stuff in when I get the car back
