Hi all, I've posted this in a couple of other more general Vauxhall/Corsa forums but there might be some bright spark here that can throw light on this issue.

This problem started a couple of weeks back and is getting more regular. The car starts and runs fine as it has done since I got it a just over a year ago.

After a while though if I stop and take my foot off the accelerator it will just die and not restart. It turns over fine. If I leave it for between 5 and at its worst 40 minutes it will start again.

When it began it did this occasionally but might run ok for 30 mins or more. Now it seems to only last for 5 - 10 mins.

If I keep my foot on the accelerator when coming to a halt (heel and toeing) it will keep going. Its only when I come completely off the gas it will die and then won't start again.

These have an idle control valve or something like that?

Apparently theres an idle control stepper thing on the throttle housing. Or the egr valve. Seem to be the common problems. Try cleaning them both

some have throttle problems, egr is common as well as crank sensor problems.have you done a dtc readout?also ive had ecus fail when they get warm, connections break down internally.start with a basic dtc readout initially

dtc(diagnostic trouble code readout) basically the first thing i would do is try and get hold of someone with a dtc reader(even if £50 cheap one apposed to a £4000 tech 2 is ok).plug it in,see if any codes are stored then go from there.i take its a corsa c z10xe or z10xep engine?

Fitted a new crank sensor and seems to be running well now. The only thing is the eml is now permanently on. (When the car was not working it wasn't!) I have tried connecting both my OBD reader and my scanguage and neither will work with the Corsa. How else can a get rid of the eml?

Offending crank sensor looking a bit grubby! In the centre should be a nice shiny silver pin like the 2nd photo.

Can't you do the same as you do in the vx and take the ecu fuse out?

cool cool'just to check, did your new sensor come with a brown o ring?if so,the old ones not stuck in there as well is it,making the crank sensor a few mm out and a tight fit?obd should clear any dtcs stored, does it not communicate with the car?

No o ring. The car does seem a little hesitant when running which it didn't before. sh**.. i really dont want to have to do that again! How will I get the ring out if its still in?

Actually if one didn't come out and I didn't put one in it should be ok...right?

erm in theory if you have 1 o ring then cool, but it might be wedged instead of sealing and partially in the way?

The three cylinder corsa's sound great IMO. sweet little raspy things and not as slow as you would imagine either....
