Morning .org, happy new year! Was at the petrol station a few days ago, and noticed my petrol cap didn't go on as expected, so with a bit of light force, i managed to get my key out...it comes out fine when in the open position, but when I come to lock it, the key won't come out...just been now to try and have a go, squirted some WD40 which has made the mechanism smoother, but the key won't come out still....some spring loaded thing inside I need to fettle with? thumbsup

Harry, when you goto take the key out after locking it, you need to turn the key back a little bit then try and pull it out. On mine when you go to turn it back it feels free then you feel a bit of resistance and this is when it comes out no problem. Hope this sorts it.

Mine does this, more so since I dissassembled it for painting. Lube has helped a bit but I still need to wiggle it a bit in the unlock direction for it to come out with the cap fitted. I am going to try using my spare key which has not had so much use and may not have worn down so much...

Just had this happen to mine I thought I was going to have to walk home for the spare set as I just couldn't get the key back out whether locked or unlocked. It now seems that I have to turn the key back slightly after locking to get it back out again dose this meen the lock is on its way out or is there something wrong with the cap itself.

Had mine over 1.5 years and it is the first time I have had any trouble with the petrol cap apart from when it froze last winter I had unlocked and locked it fine before going for petrol to check it was ok as I always do when it is below freezing.
