I am looking to get a set of summer/track wheels and put 888's or a048's on them... I know td's are industry standard so to speak, but if I wanted to go for 17's on the front, slightly narrower than the back so as to avoid rubbing on full lock and still be able to run sticky tyres what are my options, or am I best to go 16/17 td's?

you can go for 17in front TDs if you want to. Or the ATC DTC CDT(:P) are also 17s all round, and don't rub

Or a set of very light OZ wheels? @ JG: no intrested to start a list of people who would like to have those? (perhaps together with French, Dutch, ... Forums you could get the right number?)

I have just had a conversation with a wheel supplier and have a meeting with them at the Autosport Show with the idea of getting a 17 inch track wheel set made for the Lotus/VX220.

Thanks guys a few good leads there. I suspect Mike that would take some time wouldn't it? I know I should be patient but want something for this summer, before my mrs spends what little money I have ;0)

Get a couple of matching standard rear wheels and run those on the front with 195/205/215 tyres. You just need to run a spacer to move them out slightly to a suitable offset.

I had thought of that, but ideally I would want 4 so I could have. Set of wet/winter wheels. Buying 4 rears I think would set me back as much as a new set of td's wouldn't it?

Matt does this work with Turbo wheels as well?

It does. I probably wouldn't go as extreme as 215's on the "new" fronts without stepping up the rear tyre size to suit.
