Hi, has anyone got a quick fit clam set up? Is this worth doing or can a clam be removed quickly if needed with a few key bolts altered? I was looking at using Dzus race fasteners to both clams just not sure if its worth the hassle ? I plan on keeping this car for a while and maybe develop it over the next few years so would be a benefit to be able to gain access quickly at events and also for maintenance.

they are pretty quick fit as they are. 10-15 min for a front. 30-45min for a rear depending upon mount of interior in the way.

My intention is to tarmac rally this car, the view is that you would generally get a 30 minute service so something like a burst hose could put you out of the rally. As events cost about £250 to enter for a single venue and rising it would be great to access the car as quick as possible. I am not worried about having fasteners showing as this is a competition vehicle.

You could replace most of the clam bolts with fasteners I'm sure

No new to take front clam off unless radiator burst So fit a Ali rad and all good Only point is to take rear clam off even the. That's only if the engine fails! In which you won't be able to fix it in 30mins so pointless in my alcoholic state

I like the idea of easy removal, the hinged way looks like it would be a pain when I damage the car, I will be adding some extra bars to the front anyway so will look at it over the next couple of weeks.

If you damage the car, everything will be a pain.

It would all be knackered if it was left standard as well, but at least I could take it off quick and chuck it over a hedge. lol

Its worth knowing that both clams on a VX are two piece. They are boded in the middle but are originally made from two part so you have a natural place to split them to hinge them. I doubt you get a tight enough shut line for a road car but for a rally application it should be more than good enough.
