Can anyone recommend anything. I'm using PowerDVD at the moment but Cyberlink who produce it are right shites. They upgrade their software every couple of years which renders your version useless as they don't produce patches to compensate for the changes on BD's. It's £80 a throw to get the upgrade. So i wondered if there was anything else out there which is better.

Have you had alook on www.download.com? I normally see if I can find something on there for free before I buy any software. You can filter by licence, operating system and by number of people who have recommended it. May lose a bit of functionality but worth a try.

I've had the same problem with crappy PowerDVD. I built a Blu-ray/HD-DVD media centre PC a couple of years ago and eventually it wouldn't play the latest discs. I think there only 2 or 3 software companies that are licensed by Sony and any of there products are pricey. I spent many wasted hours on the interweb and found that none of the Freebies would play Blu-ray discs satisfactorily. In desperation, I ended up buying an unused OEM PowerDvd 10 (which is still supported) for £10. Peter

I to have been searching for a free blu-ray software player with no luck. Both vlc and kmplayer fail to deliver what I want. I do hate paying for software but I don't see any other way.
