I'm getting EGR fault codes but the valve has been removed. P1171: [Chrysler] Fuel System Lean During Acceleration [Hyundai] Electronic Throttle System Open [Dodge] Fuel System Lean During Acceleration [Jeep] Fuel System Lean During Acceleration [Seat/Audi/Volkswagen] Throttle Actuation Potentiometer Sign.2 Range/Performance [Volvo] Long-term fuel trim, Upper Limit P0404: Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Range/Performance Pending Fault Log ------------------ P0404: Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Range/Performance P1404: [BMW] Heated Catalyst Current too High During Heating (Bank 2) [Chrysler] Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Closed Position Performance [Dodge] Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Closed Position Performance [Jeep] Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Closed Position Performance [Seat/Audi/Volkswagen] EGR Flow Basic Setting not carried out Historic Fault Log ------------------ ECU reports no historic faults Other discovered fault codes (possibly pending, current or manufacturer specific) ---------------------------------------------------- P0405: Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor "A" Circuit Low The above is a download from my 'Torque' OBDII reader. I've changed the cheater for a new one. The codes can be reset but they will come back. I guess it's the P1171 which is most critical, this has only started since changing the cheater so it could be my dodgy soldering. Is there any other areas I should be investigating. cheers in advance Chris

P1171. Lean spot on fuel map on SC cars. I get it all the time and it often turns the fan on. It seems to be a hole in the CMS map around the map change (2250 rpm). On mine its awful when its cold and appears as a flat spot when its warm.

P1171 Fuel System Lean During Acceleration
P1404 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Closed Position Performance
P0404 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Open Position Performance
P0405 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Position Sensor Circuit Low Voltage

the egr codes p1404 and p0404 are because the cheater is too quick, p405 sometimes appeared on the earlier version of the cheaters - this was modified in later versions.

But I would guess the eml is caused by the p1171 code as the cheater codes can be present but not cause an eml

P0404: Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Range/Performance

I get this one come up time to time, not sure why, I assume it's something to with the fact my car is running rich, well I think it is anyways.

Sorry I can't help.

I have EGR blanked, but still plugged in. I get P0404 quite a bit especially on constant throtle openings for sustained periods (i.e. the motorway) when the EGR would normally be open. Basically I wouldn't worry about it as all the EGR is designed to do is decrease internal resistance in the inlet side of the engine anyway, and increase economy.

So what do i do just ignore and keep resetting? I've reset it now and went for a good blast, no codes and i gave it some pretty hard acceleration. The problem has only occurred since I haven't been using the car very much and when I have driven it it's been pretty subdued driving. First time it went was at the Goodwood TD we were at VXed. Haven't been too worried, performance is fine just having to reset the eml.

Strange as one of the chaps on here has SORNd his car and only turns it over every week or so. EML came on for what appeare3d no reason at all. Cleared it with scanguage and has not come on since.

Did you cruise there and did it come on before you got there? When it opens the EGR valve and the TB doesn't have to open wider, it assumes that the EGR is broken as it isn't allowing gases into the inlet. I need to buy a scangauge and mount it somewhere, because I ignore my EML now. One of these days it will actually be something I should stop for.... :beat:
