My current rear calipers are in need of an overall so looking for a pair of calipers in good condition that I can swap mine out with, then I can service mine at my leisure and sell on later.

There's your passport to cheap calipers then. One side on Ebay for £68, you should be able to get the other side for a similar price.

there were very few calipers that have the handbrake integrated as well as the Renault unit :)

Yes, 21 Turbo ones are the same, other Renault 21 calipers are different

Before you all rush out...........I'm 95% sure they are different, look the same but they are for solid discs not vented. I've spent many hours looking for alternative parts & I think I found the only car the originals were used on was a Dodge Viper!

:yeahthat:

What do a 1988 Renault Alliance, 1992 front wheel drive Dodge Monaco, a Lotus Elise, and a non-ABS Gen 1/2 Dodge Viper have in common? Would you believe the rear brakes?

they were indeed designed for solid 8mm discs rathe than 25mm. But they are the same, simply the pad thickness on the velige is rather smaller than a r21.

I came up with 10.5mm but this is what I thought also

Simple way is for someone to buy a set if they fit then happy days and if they dont then have fun selling them. There is little to no mention of these on elise forums which i find odd.

Well I've tried a rear laguna 2.0 RXE which I understood was the same caliper & even with the thinner Elise pads it wouldn't fit, the pads wouldn't go in, it was a long while ago but from memory you'd have had to have taken off about 50% of the Elise/VX material. The distance of the span (between the piston & the inside edge of the caliper) is much smaller than the VX/Elise - but as Robin says feel free to try them & report back ;)
