Getting a load of immobiliser codes on the VX and it still won't connect to the ECU after swapping it for another one. :( Getting a B3040 which says that a communication failure on the W line or something. Getting a security system voltage low error code Transponder key not recognised code (i know what this one is) The first couple of messages were what I was getting before I swapped the ECU so it's made no difference and I still can't get connected using any comms device (bluetooth or hard wired). It connects to the ECU fine when it looks for the immobiliser codes, so I think the security system is stopping it connecting to the ecu properly. :s Anyone got any ideas?

Swapped the old ecu and transponder back in and now the only message I get is that the key is not recognised. (on both keys) Thought that I might be getting somewhere so went to all the documentation I got when I bought the car to find the code so that I could just reprogram the keys, but no code! :( I take it the only way to get this is to contact Vauxhall? :(

So... Can't you relearn the keys? (Have to check my manuals for details about this)

Do you have corroded terminal connections on any of the plugs? I had MEGA issues with the throttle a couple of years ago. I've had corrosion on some of the terminals that gave me electrical gremlins. Swapped a few over and its been fine for a while.

The plugs are mega clean and look like they've never been separated. Was chatting to Nelly and it seems that the communications error can sometimes be a dodgy earth to the ECU. That would explain why the comms error seems to have gone after refitting, but now I'm left with the keys not being recognised. Boooooooo thumbsdown

Deffo sounds electrical. As in connections somewhere. These are the worst :(. Does the op-com not test wiring for the immobiliser? It does for the engine loom.

They are the worst because they are really frickin difficult to diagnose. Auto electrician locksmith will be getting called. I've clutched at all straws now.

You indeed need your vehicle security code to program the keys. if you lost your code, go to a Vauxhall dealer with your car papers for your vehicle code. Will cost you ~20 or so, but you can program your keys again and do all the other special stuff.

(And if your Opcom reads the ecu's fault codes etc., your wiring is fine as it's just a single wire from the OBD connector, through the immobiliser, through the X2/X3 plugs to your ecu...)

hmmmm.... My dad has just had a thought and I think he might be right. When we took off the old decoder ring we gave it a bit of brute force and ignorance and split it. My dad has just found out that there's a metal antenna ring inside of there that would have snapped when we took it off. The fact that it's broken will mean that it won't detect the keys!!! DOHHHHH!!!! :beat: :beat: Will swap the new ecu and decoder back on tomorrow and make sure the earth is seated properly. Should be easier now that the security bar isn't in the road. thumbsup
