I was wondering if it was possible to change the exhaust and cat on an NA without going thru the hassle of taking the back clam off? Is it nightmare job?

No need to remove clam. All accessible from underneath. If it's the original exhaust, you might have some fun and games undoing the bolts though as they'll just be an unrecognisable blob of rust.

Yep I saw mine come off from underneath no need to take off clam But this was done on a lift and not in the street Ramps may be high enough but a lift would be best.

Did mine (incl manifold) on the drive. Was ok but as BVSD says would have been 100 times better on a lift.

I did a full exhaust and manifold swap with clam on. You will need to be brave when taking out the back box as the clam will need to bend quite a bit. Remember to get the silencer in first though, fitting the down pipe on first then realising the box won't go back on would be frustrating I guess. Not that I would know of course

Did my back box and downpipe without taking clam off. Mines an 03 and no rust or problematic nuts on mine. How come when I asked about fitting a manifold recently everyone said I had to at least losen the clam to slide it back a little? Are people now saying the manifold can be changed without loosening the clam?

Potentially daft question. But do I need a gasket of any form between the cat and the back box connecting plates?
