Hi All, Hoping you can help... ( I have done a search but cannot find an actual VX220 Turbo std set-up rolling road curve). Having now driven my VX for a good few weeks, which is completely standard, I am questioning whether it is down on power or something isn't quite right. It is a 2003 car with 43K miles on the clock. It seems to have the flat spot in 3rd gear that I have read about but it also feels flat in other gears at different points, and has no real pull beyond 80-90mph. I have nothing to really compare this with, so am intending on putting it on a RR this weekend and it would be great to have another power/torque curve to do a comparison with (I appreciate they will all be a little different). Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Have a look on dyno-plot.co.uk, there's probably a few of every stage on there.

Sounds like something is deffo wrong if it has no pull after 80... Your best best is to take it to a respected rolling road that is familiar with this engine. I would recommend either Courtenay or MMG, either will do you a fine job. You should seriously consider getting a 'stage 1' or 'stage 2' map as this eliminates the flat spots and give you a lot of welcome power and torque. HTH.

Thanks Nev, yeah I have been thinking about Stage 2 but keep to understand whether there is anything more sinister going on before taking the jump. My other problem is that, well, I am in Aberdeen! Only about 9 hrs from Courtenay etc and as I understand it (please correct me if I am wrong) but us "highlanders" dont really have a specialist up here that deals with tuning, maps etc.

Thanks techieboy, handy site but unfortunately there doesn't appear to be one of a Standard VX220 Turbo from what I can see.

I would highly recommend fitting a boost gauge so you will be much better informed of what is going on throughout the rev range. They're simple to fit - simply put a 'T' into the vac hose from the fuel pressure regulator - and you will have an idea of which way to turn. You do not even have to actually 'fit' it to the dash if you don't want to just have it hanging out the engine bay through your window as a diagnostic tool

I've got one, it's posted somewhere on the forum. Only an on road dyno plot though not rolling road but it gives you the basic shape of the standard curves. Try searching for my username on photobucket, think it's public so you should be about to find it

In any case you shouldn't need a plot to tell you it's not running properly. Even in standard trim the VX is rapid and will pull hard way beyond 90mph. Something is defo wrong with yours

First port of call make sure the plugs are dry and have the correct torque setting. Simple and free. Mine had both these and felt a bit crap after I bought it. Also pull fuse 8 for ten minutes after checking to reset the ecu. Should feel like a new car. Mine did.

Depends what you drove previously. I actually do think the stock vxt is a bit gutless top end - and this is what you would expect. 0-60 the effect of air resistance is not so significant, but you do feel it beyond 80. When i shopped my skyline in and bought the vxt this lack of outright power was obvious....whereas the low speed pull was comparable. That said it certainly isnt enough to feel broken in any way.
