Doesn't anyone know how to sort out a P1490 - Aux Pump Relay Circuit Open. I'm not really sure what I should go about checking /: It's causing the engine to fail under high boost. With a road trip next week this is the last thing I need -.- Thanks for any help

the auxillary cooling pump circuit is not connected - plug X31, pump M55 or relay K82

Hadn't readlised the VXT had a secondary electric cooling system pump?... I suppose it makes sense for when the fan stays on after the engine is off. Do you know if it is controlled seperately to the fan via the ECU or through the same relay ie, is there any point in using my fan override when the engine is off? Cheers

I also replaced a red (10) fuse in the boot, havent checked the front ones yet tho.

Is there any way I can have the car running properly without that pump?

it very rarely comes on, hence why its seized up. I think it only runs when engine has stopped and its just to run coolent round the turbo and block only if water temp is high. if you do good turbo cool down and allow turbo to spool down before turning off the engine (and oil supply to turbo bearings) then should be fine

Yea I always leave it running before turning it off. Problem is, the ecu is blocking full boost, so the engine kind of hiccups when it's at full boost /: Anyway to solve the problem so that I don't have to use it but I can still get full boost?

Does anyone think I could disconnect the aux coolant pump and just bridge the electrical connection to make the engine work correctly? It just blows the fuse everytime.

Would you not just be better replacing the auxiliary pump? Surely the part can be that dear, grabbed fitting maybe a pain, but surely you are just increasing the likelihood of other faults by not replacing it.

Hi Corey, if you want to fool the ECU into thinking the pump is there and still working you need to do the following: 1. Find out what the resistance of a working pump is. Do this by using a Omh meter accross its live and earth terminals. 2. Buy a 10 watt resisitor from RS or somewhere. 3. Disconnect the loom plug that connects to the old pump. 4. Solder (or connect temporarily) the resistor that you bought across the terminals of the loom. The ECU will now detect the correct resistance and thus assume the pump is there. That should (in theory) work, though I am not 100% sure. Maybe someone can confirm. Alternatively, but a second hand one that is know to work and replace it.

its the 7.5amp fuse with the two 12v violet wire 0.5mm and 0.75mm , pump 12v is brown/violet , with the ground wire violet/orange

or for those colour blind , the relay on the far right of the pic

I guess the ecu monitors the 12v feed from relay coil , via pin p45 , before it grounds it . So , 0v or fuse blown or relay removed would trigger it.

or its the big X3 black multi-plug ,

X3- "Black"
pin 1 Pedal pin 1 YE to X31 pin4
pin 2 Pedal pin 2 GN to X31 pin21
pin 3 Pedal pin 3 BU to X31 pin54
pin 4 Pedal pin 4 BK to X31 pin22
pin 5 Pedal pin 5 WH to X31 pin5
pin 6 Pedal pin 6 BN to X31 pin37
pin 7 944 ground control signal to energise relay K82 aux pump VT/OG
pin 8 B3 Switch - Oil pressure Instrument H1.2 BN/BU
pin 9 IMO1433 Immobiliser WH/YE
pin 10 INS743 Immobiliser Telltale - Engine BN/BU
pin 11 Vehicle speed WEG1243 YE/GY
pin 12 Alternator D+
pin 13 Fuse 7.5A FB8
