Guess I should start a project thread for my coupe moulding project. A very nice man (Darcini) who lives up the road lent me the mould for his coupe section so I ended up with this:

I modified this slightly to suit my own thoughts on it.

Another very very nice man (AtomX) donated me a spare NA bootlid so I could hack it about to make a proper plug. Lots of fannying about and I ended up with this outer mould
Posted Image

A lot more fannying and I had this inner mould
Posted Image

The black flange around the edge is there to bolt up so that the two parts align properly
Posted Image

The lower part has this additional box section to add some strength to the structure
Posted Image

I added some structure to the frame and it fits on OK

I just need to make some hinges but my engineer friend who was going to help has a few problems of his own so its all down to me. Will pull my finger out when I get back off holiday.

I'm liking the grooves that line through with the bootlid...is that a new idea?

Thats Darcini's artistic style.

It'll be polycarbonate. I know the guy that does the polycarb for most WRC teams and he said he can do it in good quality stuff for about 75 quid. Or I could buy cheaper stuff and have it done for about 55-60.

I must confess, I've never really looked at these coupe conversions in any great detail before today. The lines between the boot lid and fast back do seem somewhat awkward and lack a little symmetry...those grooves certainly help in that matter.

Personally, I'd go for quality on the glass for the sake of £20 or so...it'll be perforated in some manner presumably? I always worry about crap getting in there and cleaning the inside lol

I think at the bottom of the slope where the "butresses" would normal end it should go diagonally across rather than a corner, loos a little cut-off. Maybe that's just me though :beat:
