A guy here http://www.migweb.co...otus-elise.html was fitting one to his Elise, some pics but not much useable info though. Really hope you get somewhere with this, ideally if you can put together a kit at the end of it all for, say £500, that would be great

Some thoughts about gear box choice. ( Bit of a ramble here....) After spending ages trying to first get some weigh details for the 3 gear boxes in the "frame" and then some independent corroborating weight results this is what I have found. But bear in mind that this is from the web......not me weighing them. Which I will do, as I already have 2 of the 3. F40 .................... 56.4Kg........dry. M32.................... 47.0kg.........dry. F23..................... 42.0kg.........dry. Now the V6 engine has a dual mass flywheel set up.......heavy again. I had thought that to part way eliminate the dual mass weight that I would use an alloy fuel tank. Now the F40 exasperates the additional weigh equation. So maybe I should look at interfacing the existing F23 to the V6 and at the same time replacing the dual mass unit with a lightweight flywheel and clutch unit. I had always supposed that the V6 engine was going to be heavier than the Turbo engine........by how much I am unsure. But I also had thought that I could by way of removing/lightening other items that I could negate that issue. This is a very important part of the engine swap, as I have the car handling so very well. Also my existing split % rates are very good at 54% rear 46% front with half a tank of fuel. I have plotted all 3 gearboxes against the V6 power band and to be honest for road and fun track use there is no benefit in one box over the other. The benefit that there is in Engineering terms is of course the weight, or rather lack of it, in using the existing F23 unit. Furthermore after trawling through a lot of USofA sites I have found the F23 behind a whole host of huge torque producing engines ............... and living with the power. And of course these are all in huge weight cars. So I feel that the F23 with the V6 and less than 1000Kg will not be a problem for it. Well that is it really. But it is a good idea to look at these things well before the work begins. Korkey.

I hope you realise the vectra C is CAN and you need to use all the Vectra's ECUs to make the immobiliser work, possibly including the dash cluster. There are three or four of the body ECUs all linked together. Also your Stack rev counter and coolant temp gauge will most likely no longer function with the CAN system

Hello vocky. Yes. I have spoken to a few people about this and there for sure will be some problems to overcome on that front. But I am hoping that these issues will be overcome. Korkey.

Project sounds interesting.. Physically most difficult part will probably be to package a decent exhaust setup in the car.. Always difficult with a transverse 'V' engine to route the pipes in such a way to keep things from cooking/burning and at the same time keep a good flow going. One possible solution for the temperature readout on the STACK: http://forums.seloc....ge=2#pid5242375 (and speed signal, but the VX has the ABS ECU for that unlike the Rover based Elises..) Even on a CAN setup the rpm signal could probably be picked up (inductively or directly) from the ignition circuitry and slightly modified to be suitable as an input to the STACK. Bye, Arno.

its the bosch ME9.6 for the v6 , and trionic 5/7/8 for the saab i4's

if you want decent support , then go for the v6 alloytec with HP Tuners , http://www.hptuners....te_vehicles.php

quite a nice cut-away which I think helps show how compact the exhaust headers are

something you rarely find shown is the secondary air injection system plus EGR system. Item 11 is the shiny chrome pipe you see from the exhaust manifold

This is primarily for emissions is it not, to allow the CAT/s to reach optimal working temperature more quickly, or am I thinking of something else..? I guess it would be preferable to remove this system, if nothing other than to reduce complexity, although perhaps the standard ECU wouldn't like that.

Late contribution, but something that really appeals is the NSX 3.0 V6 lump. Yours for £2K....ebay
