Hi guys I'm looking for more power from my corsa vxr, I'm currently at stage 3 with a k04 turbo injectors and manifold to fit which should see me with 270 bhp. ive come across a dbilis 1.6 - 1.8 stroker kit, anyone know the pros and cons to fitting something like this? Does it give you the equivalent to a 200cc re bore? Cheers Alan

Got to say I'm struggling to see why you'd want to waste the money on more power out of the thing. The Corsa VXR I drove at Brands Hatch struggled to put the power down as it was without the traction control stomping all over it.

Longer stroke = less willing to rev, and. Bet the dilbert kit costs more than buying and fitting an ls9 engine in there :lol Notionally there should be no reason why the 1.8 bottom end with the VXr top end wouldn't work.

I'm planning on fitting an LSD as is in the nurburgring edition which will improve it on track and windy roads but that'll be next year.

I gotta say I'm pretty impressed impressed with mine on the road, my stage 3 map is so smooth its really nice to drive, I have a windy road leading into my village and I feel I can push the corsa more around it going home than I can either my vx's, probably because their always covered by trees and damp!!

How does it differ? Will it not take longer to rev too?

Mildy, but it's going to be cheaper than a dilbert kit which will be the same thing.

this was the crank, would the 1.8 bottom end line up with everything?

My thinking was to fit this once i do the rods and pistons, then i can get a more agressive map which will make use of the forged internals.

Jebus titty fcuking Christ dilbert like a price.... Let's not forget adding in labour  Odds on a 1.8 16v crank will fit and be about a tenth of that price. Or build a lairy 1.8 bottom end to do more for less.

Haha hope u didnt spill your coco mate!!

I will look into the 1.8 bottom end thing, like you say it will be much cheaper, so long as it all fits. £250 on eBay complete
Would make a nice winter bench project :)

Ive done pretty good so far in getting all the bits apart from the K04 from eBay, dont spose a Dbilias crank will come up 2nd hand!

cheers for the replys thumbsup

wouldn't it be easier to buy a more powerful car in the first place. Seems to me you've got as much power as anyone would want from a 1.6. Anymore and you're seriously (well you probably have already) going to dent reliability. Move to a higher capacity car if i were you, before you melt piston 4. ;)

After spending a bit of time on vxronline.co.uk I've come to notice almost all the P4 issues are with very young drivers not warming up and cooling down the car first. After about 12 novas and 2 corsas I have a soft spot for small vauxhalls, I love the corsas driveability, and regal have done 30 or so K04 corsas which have had no issues, most are forged builds but a few are on standard internals still with no P4 problems. Be boring if we all did the same thing :)

Regarding a LSD - you're best off buying either;
Crash damaged Corsa Nurburgring gearbox.
Quaife/Wavetrac etc

I'm sure you'll know but the Nurburgring LSD is a Drexler item, and they're not cheap. I think from Drexler direct, the 'standard' M32 one is 1,600 Euro, 'strong' M32 is 1,900 Euro.

Wavetrac is around £1100 odd fitted.
Quaife ATB is around the same I think.
