OP-COM no good for the alarm as it's not linked into the cars systems, in any way. Immobiliser, yes but not alarm.
Remote programming details here
Sorry to Hi-jack thread!
Techie this is good info I'm also having alarm issues with my OEM I don't have the code card! I'm trying my other key fob this evening see how it goes..

ok, have managed to do more googling and searching now that i am at my laptop and not via phone, i can see the process on the working remote arm and disarm 16 times thing - unfortunately my currently fubar'ed remote is the only one. as a last ditch attempt, would anyone happen to know if the ignition puts the alarm in arm/disarm mode at all? am wondering if i can turn the ignition on/off 16 times to produce the result of the meta being armed and disarmed enough to go into program mode and accept the remote...
and do we know of any potential issues with sitting there turning the ignition on and off 16 times in a row? dont want to fry anything more expensive in the car by trying to save the £100 and dash out hassle on the alarm...
cheers

thanks for the info and such a quick reply techie. looks like i will have to bite the bullet on the cost and the dash out then (tempted as i am to go the lazy route of new red card and remote by post i cant be certain it will work without a working fob and thats going to cost about £75 for just 1 fob). combine that with the missing V5 cost from DVLA and i find the dealer i bought the car from moving closer towards the top of the hate list.
on the plus side i can try and make a project of front speakers in the outer vents whilst the dash is out
