Morning all, I'm meeting a chap from Austria at Stansted on Saturday morning to sell the VX. He's bringing cash sterling (which I'll obviously check) and we've agreed a price so that's the best I can hope for but I will need to inform the DVLA of export after I've put the number plate on retention. I've asked for a copy of his license in case he spanks it down the motorway and I get a nice letter from the Police but is there anything else I should be aware of? I've had a couple of enquiries from the continent about cars before but never actually sold one to euroland! Cheers! Phil

Looks fairly straightforward from the DVLA point of view - I'll just post him the revised V5C when it comes back with the standard plate :)

sold around 12 vxt to the continent. get a written agreement and check the exchange rate before hand. sign a agreement both of you and time it exactly and date.

Thanks. We've agreed a price in cash sterling and I've got a receipt knocked up and I'll try and get a couple of photos of him :) He's booked a Hotel in Stratford just the other side of the Blackwall tunnel as they're flying in Friday night. Hopefully there will be a bank within shouting distance so we can pay the cash straight in. P.

You don't need his licence. If you have a receipt and his address, that's all you need to complete a NIP.

Just wanted that for proof of ID really. I'm actually trying to sort out temporary cover for him in his own name to drive it back to Austria at the moment - got a quote of £99.07 for 3 days (was £86 until we ran the full quote and ticked EU cover!) and he's going to paypal me the premium if he agrees. Should know shortly. Cheers! Phil

Right, he's paid for the insurance and I've sorted that out for him. Fingers crossed for Saturday then it's Stage 4 time :D Phil
