so where are we with this these days?

I looked at a few curved sets yesterday and w couldn't see the point tbh (I stand to be corrected)

OLED look great but too much ££££

I like UHD 65" but I'm worrying about upscaling..

Any advice available? budget up to about £1700.00

I'm thinking this one atm:-

Or maybe a 6470 i think they are both 1600 pqi if that makes any difference

TIA for any help offered - its doing my nut in

Yeah, which is some of the reason im confused

By visual comparison 3840 x 2160 looks pretty damn good to us as we only watch tv and the odd movie

Given the above definition is upscaling an issue given it's mainly going to be used by the missus watching benders in HD?

I'm not up on this 4k stuff tbh is there any content for it yet? If it were me I'd get the best 1080p they do. Sent from my Redmi Note 4 using Tapatalk

Plenty of youtube 4K content, you can buy 4K disks (with a compatible 4k player) and both xbox one and ps4 pro have 4k games available.

I bought a 1080 oled at Xmas for £1300 and very pleased with it, can't say I have ever thought I needed 4k.

My advice would be to buy one from Richer Sounds.

It will be last years set, but they don't tend to change much spec wise from one year to the next.

You will usually get a long warranty and it will be maybe 50% of its original on sale price.

Not much stuff really transmitted in 4K to be honest.

Some people shooting 8K and cropping the Image.

As WrightStuff says above.

There's quite a bit of 4k on Netflix and Amazon Prime, but wether you need that kind of resolution has a lot to do with the relation of screen size to viewing distance. What's more relevant to everyone is HDR (or the competing versions) - more subtle colour graduation and being able to see more detail in shadows and "dark" scenes.👍

Whatever you decide on read some proper technical reviews from what Home Cinema or the like. Gadget magazines like T3 never use to do any proper testing and although a user review gives you something, you need the real detail so your comfortable with your decision.

Cheers guys

Bit on a minefield ain't it?

Sort of takes away the pleasure I used to get out of just going out and 'buying' something without  a care in the world

Still, good advice above, im still bloody wondering whether to go 65" or 55" or something in between  having looked about though it seems 4k uhd hdr in either size is the way to go

After a seemingly endless trawl of online guff we opted for a Panasonic TX-58EX700B

Anything in 4k is bloody epic quality. Almost breathtaking.

Anything on the usual HD channels from virgin I really cant fault either (viewing from about 3m)

The only side is I now notice all facial acne
