Hey Hey, Does anyone has a timing tool kit for the Z22SE engine (2001 VX NA) that would be willing to borrow for a couple of days? In Portugal nobody has the tool, I went to all the Opel dealers and no luck  I´m currently working in the NL and flying back almost every weekend, so I would return back the toolkit within one week... Thanks a lot for your help. Such a nice weather in PT and my car with the engine open for 4 weeks now :( Cheers

do you mean the cam locking tool? Trying to think what Benny used when he did my chain - he didn't used a specific tool though

as long as you can find some thing to hold the cams still then the specific tool isn't *THAT* important, maybe some cable ties between the sprockets or a wedge under the cam itself

I'm sure a cutian size spanner fits on the cam to stop it spinning?

depends what you are planning on doing, to fit a new chain kit you do not need a cam locking tool, just two cable ties to swap the cams you really need the cam locking tool or you can remove the chain and swap the cams that way

Hey Niko, Once again tanks a lot for your support. I´ll pass it to my mechanic. The strange thing in the car is that currently the chain marks aren´t aligned with the sprocket marks  I´ve just ordered the cam looking tool (around 70€ delivered). Cheers Joao

Hey Vocky, Indeed I´m replacing the cams for some piper ones. Hope we get the tool quickly to get the car up and running. The car is from 2001. Would you recommend to change the chain and / or tensioner while we are at it? Cheers

I'm gonna go ahead and answer this; Yes - 2001 car means you could have the old, smaller oil squirter that can get blocked. I'f you're going to the trouble of doing the cams you may aswell do the chain & tensioners too - you're halfway there with everything open anyway. Do an oil change at the same time.

As above, since you are in the engine then change it. If you weren't in the engine and its not making noises then I'd say leave it.

if you replace the chain you do not need the cam locking tool :poke: the chain timing marks only align every 700 or so engine rotations
