The bloody OEM exhaust heatshield had pretty much welded itself to the underside of the silencer.

Well, that stuffing certainly hasn't gone anywhere. Bugger. No easy wins on the noise front there.

Single exit pipe saved me a good chunk of db in the first instance
It's going off to a local exhaust place to have a new tailpipe section fitted with just one "live" exit on plus a dummy.

I do wonder whether there's too much stuffing in there but, looking at the acoustic properties of Acousta-Fil, it only has a -10dB effect on lower frequency noise whereas it has a -50dB effect at higher frequencies. That would certainly tie in with the grating continual low frequency drone that it has.
