Looking to build on this years sprint championship we have held through SELOC I'd once again like to extend an invite for next years championship. The big news this time is that we are proud to announce the the champs will be sponsored by Nitron and will be officially called the Nitron SELOC Speed Championship 2013. As part of the sponsorship they'll be offering a prize of the overall winner of a set of 46mm Trackday Pro dampers for your specific vehicle. The calendar for next year is being looked at right now and we are expecting to increase the number of rounds available to competitors to approx 14. With your best 7 counting. It will once again be a handicapped series, based on power to weight, which means no matter what state of tune you are in as long as you can drive well you're in with a shot. This years current championship leader is in a bog standard S2 118bhp K series. We currently have 1 VX220 competing at present(Martyn Cutler)and would like to see more of you join in. More details will be post as and when they become available. Kind regards, Keith.

Once I know the calender I may well be interested.

Could you forward me a copy of any regs, or is it just road worthy jobbie?

Many thanks

2012 regs available here: http://db.tt/TLA5sqEO There will be some minor amends for next year but the majority will remain the same. Currently VX220s are grouped in Class C with engine converted cars (remember it's based on power to weight so this doesn't affect scores) so that numbers in that class justify a prize. If there is sufficient interest and entry from VX's I could look to create an invdividual class.

Any issues with people dipping in a few times but therefore not competing in championship only the round?

No issues with that in theory, you would still need to become a paid up member of seloc to do so (you need to be a member of a MSA registered club which is invited to the event) but just not sign up to the championship. Also sometime the even organisers create a seperate category for a champsionship and as such you might be in a seperate standard category... but again no issue.

Final results from 2012 are as follows!

Congratulations to Dave Pollard who is this years overall winner.

Prizes as follows:
2012 Champion* - Dave Pollard
Class A Prize - Andrew Long
Class B Prize - Stewart Paul de Jong
Class C Prize - Martyn Culter (driving a VX220)

*Overall champion does not qualify for Class A, B or C prizes.

So well done to Martyn for bringing a VX220 home in 2nd overall and Class C winner. Next year should be even tighter as the handicap is getting slightly adjusted meaning that he would have only lost out to 1st overall by 5.66 points.

Hopefully there will be a few more VX's competing next year!

Well done Martyn thumbsup

Hopefully there will be a few more VX's competing next year!

Hopefully! Having planned to do a few rounds this year and not managing to make even 1, I once again plan to do whichever rounds I can next year.

Looking forward to seeing the full calendar for next year, and fingers crossed there are some I can do! thumbsup

Changes next year are as follows: More rounds in the calendar approx 14, but your best 7 rounds will score - this year was best 7 of 8. A change in the handicap which reflects power to weight and tyres better - this year was an experimental year and it worked on the whole, but did favour low bhp and non-sticky tyres. The addition of the series being sponsored meaning the overall winner gets a spangely set of Nitron 46mm NTRS. Some minor tweaks to the regs to allow traction control if fitted etc. Costs aren't to bad at all and certainly not in the region of time attack or racing, but this is comparable to the amount of time on track. Entry fees range from £70-£150ish, but generally average at £110, so it's cheaper than a trackday and much cheaper than a race meet. Licence is about £40 (non race national B). All that's left is buying a helmet, suit and gloves which meet current regs.
