Has anyone got any experience on the above and how they compare (driving wise) to the vxt? I'm very happy with my Vx but I must say I've always had a soft spot for the t350/Tamora if I was ever going to replace the Vx this is the only car (in my eyes) I would consider replacing it with.....at the moment anyway :)but I've not even sat in a t350/Tamora never mind driven 1!

Do a search and see the true horrific cost of turbo tomato's 350 ownership experience. Go in with your eyes open

Mate had a T350 targa, no denying they are lovely cars but he was constantly worried that something was going to go on it and cost him mega bucks. He sold it after a year but i was fortunate enough to be able to borrow it for the weekend. Interior was i nice place to be, much more comfortable than the vx but not the greatest build quality by any means! These things turn head aswell, probably more so than the vx, you generally here them coming before you see them though! Awesome sound from the speed 6 engine. Handling felt a little twitchy, they need to be treated with respect or you end up in a hedge. It didn't feel much quicker (if at all) than my stage 2 and my mate agreed, that could be just down to the different power deliveries though, we never got to test it head to head! I had the opportunity to buy it from him at a very good price and although it was very tempting, the amount of fuel it used alone was enough to put me off! Probably half the mpg you would get from the vx, that and with the frightening running costs if things go wrong was the reasons i didn't go for it.

Just seen your post on PH as I've also been tempted to look into the 350 in a year or so - definitely not too young for it! It would be unusable as a daily though and I'm not yet old enough to think about moving near my work where there is little to no social happenings. I met an Exige S driver on Sat and I'll be keeping in contact with him for when he comes to sell in a year or two.

Having seriously looked at TVR possibilities the SpeedSix engine was one to avoid (as nice as it is), whereas any of the V8s were recommended to be driven regularly, as they suffer more through lack of use than being abused.

I've heard the engine problems are to do with oil starvation? And apparently if you buy one that's just had an engine rebuild from a certain place (can't remember the name now) it comes with a 100,000 mile warranty

Vauxhall give a lifetime warranty with their cars... Don't mean it is going to last that long without having to be repaired.

Not that I am discrediting the supplier, but just pointing out the obvious. thumbsup

TVR Power and Str8six are the two main Tiv engine rebuilders/servicers. Alot of it is to do with warming the engine up correctly as the Straight Six is a sensitive little engine  Tappet 'services' etc must be a right PITA...

I wonder how they compare to Vx stg 3/4? I'd imagine the Vx will handle better but not sure about straight line speed?

If going for the T350/Tam I'd definitely want the TVRpower/STR8six rebuild, especially if running as a main car. Before settling on the VX I seriously considered a Tamora but in all honesty, after many a night reading I eventually decided there was simply no way I could justify a TVR6 engine over the RV8 in the Chim/Griff. I really really want some more cylinders in my life in the not so distant future. I will own a Chim some day, it's on the must own list.

For me the RV8 needs to be parked inside the Griff, especially as the 5.0 (Griff 500) variant. Not the greatest chassis, nor the most potent V8, but is a thorough lunatic -> Which any TVR / V8 based you must be.

Exactly that!

If you warm it up properly before moving it then they dont usually have a problem. the later SpeedSix engines are fairly reliable, its only the early ones that give them a bad name. If you're going for a Tamora then go for the second version (facelift) as they have the later engines and i havent heard of many that have had problems.

Surprisingly Ive heard far more stories of the V8's going, even had one die in spectacular fashion infront of me on a run

Im not saying that the speedsix engines are bullet proof though... far from it

I'd love a Griff 500 but I'm not sure if my chest is hairy enough yet! In my mind it's one of the greats though, proper supercar presence.

On a side note I've been informed that the later serpentine engine fitted to facelift Chim's is a lot more reliable and easier to live with day to day.

Sorry for the massive tangent!
