I have a long pedal and ABS light on, the first not good for Le Mans. Nearside driveshaft has been changed. Speedo has flickered a couple of times and ABS light is intermittently illuminated. Pedal remained firm. Rear calipers replaced. Pedal now long, despite being bled twice. Op-com gives U2100, CAN-Bus malfunction present, U2108, CAN-Bus no communication with ABS/TC. Can't read the ABS. It is a VXR unit. 1, I've checked the wiring to the N/S/R hub and all appears OK. If my speedo is working, why isn't the ABS receiving the signal? 2, I guess the long pedal must be air and not a symptom of the ABS malfunction? Anyone else had bleed problems with new rear calipers? Help please?

Have you bled the clutch?

IIRC I bled my new rear calipers at least 4 times before I was happy with the pedal feel. I didn't get anymore air out after 2 goes so went for a drive, came back and loads came out. Repeated.

When replacing the nearside driveshaft, the ABS/Speed sensor has developed an iffy fault by the sounds of it, unplug, check wires, clean up, plug back in. Pedal travel is fluid issues, need to keep on bleeding and do the fronts as well and as Steve says, bleed the clutch as well, it may help.

Thanks guys, that gives me something to aim at. I assumed the nice simple single piston calipers with a bleed nipple on top would be easy to bleed  Now reassured on the ABS front, I will ignore that dangerous system. I'll bleed the clutch as well for good measure. thumbsup

I may be talking rubbish but arn't there threads on here saying the ABS has to be reset while bleeding brakes and that one of the symptoms is a slightly longer pedal travel.?

This may help if not already tried.... I have a 350z now which has a notorious difficult clutch to bleed. After some hours you can just about get a soft pedal.... The trick for this is to keep pressure on clutch pedal overnight (wood or similar) wedged under steering wheel.

To help bleed the brakes, go out and do a few stops that activate the ABS, the re-bleed. Changed the feel of my car completely and gave better pedal feel. Bleed the clutch too as mentioned by others

:yeahthat: Had same with new calipers, despite repeated bleeding, but sorted when bled again after made ABS work on a low grip surface... we have a lot of it about at the mo!

Worth checking the fuse is clean. Its the front one 10a. Just had an issue with this. If you find an issue with the pump i have a 2008 elise one. Sounds like its something less serious.
