When removing the laminovas earlier it struck me that they seemed pretty damp externally which had caused the dirt on them to become gritty.

I was expecting the fins to be dry and dusty so to speak...... So what's normal...?

In normal runing conditions though should they remain dry...? If they were damp when I removed them would that suggest there was a problem..? Some sort of leak as that would mean moisture in the head :(

the laminova seals go dry and then start to leak, eventually they fill the inlet manifold up with cc coolant, seen this twice  so might be worth replacing the eight rubber O ring seals or use some gasket sealant (aka splodge) thumbsup

The condition of them depends directly on the quality of the filter. If your laminovas are covered in crap then it's because your air filter is letting crap in.

Eek

I'd measure the ones you have and buy an aftermarket part. There's no way a rubber o ring should cost that much

Get the sizes/shore/material and I will see how much I can get them for......I work for a company who design/build valves for extreme conditions and as part of this we often specify "exotic" o-rings, it may be that to get the costs down I have to order enough for a few people (mini group buy type of thing) but there are enough people on here with s/c'd cars that it would cover it.

I doubt it's anything too exotic . I think green is usually viton in Europe but its probably something else in the us. That price is way over the top. Brammer will surely provide an alternative at a fraction of the price unless gm have speced a custom size ?

In normal operation these should stay clean and dry. But depending on your crank vent routing, your air filter layout and also the charcoal vent system (I got some blck coal dust from this one) they will grab dirt. Yours are pretty gross!!

It's the level of moisture that troubles me most!!! The outside of the fins were moist which caused all the dirt to grain up like that! I'm getting a mysterious missfire with the car and thinking maybe coolant in the head may cause it.... Just hope I've not bent any more valves!!

I doubt that jjj, if you was getting coolant in your head you would have shot loads of mayo in the rocker cover. Did you check them before you put the manifold on when you first did the conversion?

it's possible that on full boost the engine was sucking in cc coolant (past the leaky seals) and that might have caused a misfire
