Nice to hear people are finding this usefull and taking the mod on. Where you able to simply wedge your circuit board in then?

Yes, a bit more filing of the remote and fob housing but it fitted in nicely in the end.

Do you mean the thickness? Yes you will need to file down the flat face of the blade a little to get it to slide into the pivot piece. Not sure it should make any difference which side you do though, you should just be able to turn it over and have it either way? My key is symetrical which I assume they all must be otherwise you would only be able to insert the key holding it a certain way round. I took the smallest slither off of both the top and bottom to make it a tight fit and have it sit in a central position.

Yes it is symetrical and if you use the notch method you did in your guide you can flip it over. If you cut a groove in like the original like I did you can't flip it over.

No photos taken but tbh the finished product looks the same but with a longer key and I have slightly filed down the part where the key goes in to make it not catch when flipping.

What have you used to cover up the fiat logos? Just in case you have the same idea as I did in using the badges from these number plate screws I would not bother. They are a bit small and do not sit flat.

I actually now have a MkII version as a work in progress on my spare set of keys. Will look pretty much identical but will have an integrated LED flashlight in the end and possibly a remote button to turn on my new cabin flood lights.

Now I just need one with a couple more spare buttons for the electric garage doors.

Great mod! Does anyone know the availability and cost of the std vx alarm key fob from vauxhall, also the key cost of a normal key with chip, and, the reprogramming cost? Had my Audi done (bought new spare key) and they re programmed all three keys and the ecu to a new id, is this the same with the vauxhall? JF

The key is an easy DIY if you have access to OPCOM:

I think the alarm is more tricky.
