Can any tell me what is the standard ratio for a Year 2000 NA VX? It present it's 2.5 but rack is totally knackered and need refurb or replace. I was concidering a quick rack and Titan have said the do a 2.5 and 2.7. What are other people running??

2.5 is standard. 2.7 or 2.8 is quick I'm sticking with standard, because I'm cheap, and also because I don't want to put it in a bush when the rear kicks out. Quick rack = more likely to overcompensate.

How are they measured then? I thought it would be the other way around turning wheel from lock to lock gives me 2.5 turns. Now if I put in a 2.7 or a 2.8 surely I would be turning the s/wheel more and the wheels less????

You're right, sorry I managed to confuse myself. I think 2.7 is standard. Are you certain yours is 2.5? If so, any sign that it's been changed in the past?

Pretty sure it's a 2.5 it's an early car and have been told they had a quicker ratio. (Sure someone on here will be able to confirm that.)

I thought lotus intended to fit the quicker rack but for actual production fitted the slower one. As far as I know the only difference between the early and later racks is the early are made by Titan and refurbable, and later aren't.

I have never put a rack in that car, and I'm damn sure the previous owners wouldn't have. She is an early girl..... So could have some development parts on her while louts waited for suppliers to catch up. Fwiw with racks in general, i reckon 99% of drivers wouldn't be able to tell if it was 'quick' or not. I've driven countless cars with normal and quick racks fitted and never had issues of over/under doing it as you simply adapt instantly to how far you turn the wheel to change direction.

i had a 2003 oem rack (non refurbable) went for a titan quick rack, picked the car up from hangar111 and was really impressed by the difference. it is a little more heavy, but a lot nicer to drive. If my rack wasnt knackered i wouldnt have bothered, but as i was putting in a new one it was a worthwhile upgrade at that point.

I've a quick rack fitted and having driven different cars on the same day. There really isn't much difference. Mine is a 2.5.
