I've put this in a new thread rather than appending it to this post - http://www.vx220.org...ure-connection/

Get your wheel off
ME12LN87_t.JPG

Free up the handbrake cable
ME12LN8A_t.JPG

ME12LN8B_t.JPG

Disconnect from the caliper
ME12LN89_t.JPG

ME12LN8E_t.JPG

Free up the brake pipe
ME12LN8F_t.JPG

Get the lower Allen bolt out the caliper
ME12LN88_t.JPG

ME12LN8I_t.JPG

Get the split pin out of the wheel hub nut
ME12LNAD_t.JPG

The kit should have a new one, so it's okay to maul it.
ME12LNAH_t.JPG

Upper caliper bolt now
ME12LNAI_t.JPG

and slip off the caliper
ME12LNAJ_t.JPG

Disconnect the ABS sensor wire now so you don't forget when you're straining ball joints.
ME12LNAL_t.JPG

Disc screw comes out nest
ME12LNAM_t.JPG

And thats the hub

Lock up the hub (had a trolley jack under the hub - not shown in this mock up photo)
ME12LNAQ_t.JPG

ME12LNAS_t.JPG

Go to the front lower ball joint and get the nut off, but leave the joint in for now
ME12LNAT_t.JPG

ME12LNAV_t.JPG

These are Spitfire (i believe) joints, but whatever you have get the nut off, but leave the joint in for now
ME12LNB1_t.JPG

ME12LNB2_t.JPG

Now it gets hard as this will be a rusty pair of bolts with awkward access
ME12LNB3_t.JPG

Make sure you keep the shims in order
ME12LNB4_t.JPG

Now the top of the hub is loose. I chose to do it this way rather than release the top ball joint as it looked harder to do.

Kiss the end of the driveshaft - do NOT smack it - to help with the likely corrosion on the splines
ME12LNBB_t.JPG

It just needs to move. Movement is proof it will let go from the hub end and not the gearbox, as you don't want to yank your shaft and fluid comes out!
ME12LNBD_t.JPG

Now free off your lower ball joints
ME12LNBE_t.JPG

Now you are ready to change the bearing

The three hub bolts will be tight
ME12LNBG_t.JPG

ME12LNBQ_t.JPG

And then tap the bearing out. There will be some friction, but you shouldn't need to kick its head in.
ME12LNBR_t.JPG

I had a break to renovate the hub
ME12LNBS_t.JPG

This is the bearing kit I used
ME12LNBT_t.JPG

ME12LNBU_t.JPG

Remove the transport cover

The new bolts supplied are presumably for Astra/Zafira/other and are too long
ME12LNC6_t.JPG

ME12LNCC_t.JPG

I elected to reuse the bolts after measuring them for stretch
ME12LNCD_t.JPG

ME12LNCE_t.JPG

The put everything back together in the reverse of the above

When I did mine, I added a couple of washers under the hex bolt, it just allows the head of the bolt to be in a much friendlier position for access.

I would never use allen key's in there, the head's are just not as strong when things get rusty.

OE star bolts are nice though, but a plain old 19mm hex bolt is hard to beat for simplicity.

Maybe I'm daft, but I managed to change my bearing without removing the hub carrier ? It's a bit finicky but doable with the right spanners ?
