Booked up for the track evening on the 11th of September, anyone else going? It's my first trackday on a proper track, any VX specific tips? Going to change the oil, plugs and brake fluid through the week. I'm certainly going to watch Jimmy Jam's masterclass on youtube a few more times. The only other experience of the Knockhill layout is watching the touring cars, spectating at a few races and also playing TOCA on the Playstation 1 when i was about 12...

Is it the standard direction or reversed? Might pop over after work.

It's just the normal direction, I'm hoping it will be quite quiet with it being a Tuesday evening, though they did say there will be space for 50 cars. I'm going with a friend with an M5 and a guy from his work

Not entirely sure, my friend booked it up, it was via Knockhill. Are there certain guys that run them?

Hello chaps, just to let you know, KH phoned and said that the evening is being pushed forward an hour due to light conditions, so it starts at 5pm now. Who'd have thought it would start getting dark in the evenings in mid September? That's a new one on me! :P

Should still be able to pop over, won't be there for the start though. Remember to take your GoPro!

Good stuff Lewis, hopefully the weather behaves itself! Of course! My friend has one too, so hopefully we'll get some decent footage from outside too, following, looking back and going past etc :) Service and brake fluid change complete, bought a pump and a decent tyre pressure gauge too, so no spurious ASDA spec tyre pressures :P

Cool, is that it in to extinguish the EML for good? I'll keep an eye out for the old Thunder quartz! :) On a side note... you've cursed my boot lid, it sits the same as yours now! I think it has something to do with the pin. I'll have a look at it at the weekend and let you know if I find a solution

Nice one! Did you manage to get a new pad or are you moving into the VX for a while? :D It's nice through in the west just now but that can change 3 or 4 times along the M8 :P Good luck with the move!

We've pretty much decided on a place now, but Ive had to move in with my folks until we can sort a deal out! :P The new place doesnt have a garage though, which is a bit of a sh!tter. However, managed to get a lock up right across the road, so its worked out pretty well. Fingers crossed it stays nice for y'all...

That's not so bad then, at least you still have some form of a supercharger fitting facility :) Good luck, I hope it goes through smoothly! Cheers, fingers crossed! :)

No worries! :) Yeah, it was epic, what a great track! I took it quite easy on my first session just to get used to the track and the car, got a bit better by the end. Lewis popped in just before my 2nd run, so I got a few (loads of) words of wisdom from him, so I proceeded to strap the camera on and go out again. It all came together, the track was much clearer, I was far more confident and my driving was improving all the time. It would have helped if I had pressed record... The 3rd and final run wasn't so good, several Gimprezas decided they'd try out their AWD in the mud and gravel, so it was yellow flags for the last few laps. All round it was a good night, if a little busy with some drivers that should have been taken off, like the guy in the mk2 Fiesta that thought he was in a banger race, overtaking on the grass etc... The car was great, I'm still the worst part about it, which is good. I'd noticed a strong smell of petrol a few times in the last month that cleared quickly and left no trace of a leak. After my 3rd run the cause eventually showed itself with a sustained hiss after I turned the car off...the injector on cyl 4 was leaking quite badly, it was pooling fuel next to the ECU. Messed about with it and it sealed up again, so that could have been a lot worse. I'll have a look at it tonight. Lewis showed me how to adjust the bonnet catch too...legend! :D Sub standard video to follow :P

Your car must be immense round there! The only times I found my car was lacking were when following slow cars into the hairpin and then the drag up the hill, had a glance at the speedo going under the bridge, a clear entry to the hairpin equated to a good 15mph quicker by the bridge. I love the turn into Duffus and the small kink before the Chicane :) I certainly hope to do a lot more trackdays there next summer. That one was cheap and cheerful, if a bit busy, but a good taster!
