Hi,

Just wanted to clarify something about the Helix clutches for the VXT.

Helix range is a uprated clutch cover (60 -4996) which is used with both the organic plate and 4/6 paddle plates.

From the Helix catalogue the recommended max torque these are meant to handle is the below

Organic 275 ft lb
Paddle (4 or 6) 325 ft lb

General coconscious seems to be that these are pessimistic and will take a bit more before slipping (say 10-15%) .

Some people say you need a paddle for stage 4 power and other like Courtney’s say you don’t.

I think i found the reason why, Helix make one other clutch cover called the 60 -4996h/d which will take 10% extra torque than the normal "uprated item".

Which means

Organic should take a pessimistic 302 ft lb

If take off the pessimistic allowance (say 10%) the organic plate with this cover should take 330 ft lb without slippage.

This clutch cover needs to be special order, as you can’t buy it online and it is a different price. Also since it has more clamping pressure expect a harder clucth peddle than the normal helix cover.

NB – This is just for info and I have not tried or tested it, so dont take my word for it!

That certainly seems to fit with Courtenays advice and I haven't had an issue with mine with 300 torques

My stage 4 running 302 bhp / 360ft lb on a CS competition clutch had no problems at all, for the Garrett build staying with Helix and the 6 paddle with the uprated cover, running probably arround 400ft lb so will see! :)
