So... Having sold my hardtop, I was looking at potentially letting go of the fabric roof too.

I can't find any for sale and thought I'd get a price for a new replacement from Vauxhall...stand by your beds people...

For a standard "Folding Black Fabric Roof" I was quoted a straight-faced, non-smirking £1552.00 + VAT!!! :o :o :o

As you'd expect, it's not carried in stock, even Luton don't have any, so it would come special order from Germany.

Given my intention to one day put myself back behind the wheel of a Tubby/VXR, I think I'll hang on to it.

Surely there are aftermarket options and repairs available. That's a crazy price!

Can't see Germany being bothered by too many orders then! Even so, £880 is a good £300 or so more than I expected them to come in at new.

Side seals for the hard top - about 80 cm ov U shaped rubber - were quoted as £105 per side. Vauxhall is off its nut. Wasn't their CEO once quoted as saying 'we are not in the business of making cars. We are in the business of making money'. Hate what passes as their customer service and having owned a corsa from new years and years ago I swore I'd never own another one Just as well our cars are made by farmers in Norfolk!

Always avoid Vauxhall if you can. Needed a front hub last year, and this is the same part they fit to literally millions of Vectras, Astras, corsas etc, £250 + Vat. Probably costs GM 15Euros to make.

Where abouts would do it for £50? I have one with a small hole appearing that is prime for a recovering!

nb. I did google it but perhaps my search terms a particularly poor this evening.

A and r pound in baldock did my red roof, it was £130ish in the end as the fabric was a slag to get hold of as many mills are closing. He said if I wanted black it'd have been less than half that. Don't quote me though

That's a good point, I don't even know if that quote included the bag and bars!

I imagine that as time goes on they'll become more sought after as people fall victim to vandalism and the roof begins to deteriorate through wear.

Glad I've got mine now. Roof bars and bag intact.

Being back on the forum, seeing a few cars changing hands has really got me yearning for a VX again... Ended up checking out YouRube videos until the early hours this morning. Just need to get rid of the 530D!!! *old man's car*

Yep - Gutted I missed out on DrRock's VXR. That would have been perfect, especially at that price.

Just need to shift the Beemer...and try to convince Mrs G that it's her turn to get the 'family car'... We've got two little'uns to cart around and she's got a hideous '05 Mini Cooper for now. Not big enough. Can't wait to see the back of that piece of junk too!
:D :D
