The VX will be coming off the road soon for some bodywork and maintenance and will be becoming our second car :D My wife really wants an Abarth 500 as a daily and after taking a 2009 model out for a quick drive I was quite impressed by the motor although the Nexen tyres and rubber band steering were poo. I know a few people on the forum have bought these as a daily. Have any of you done any modifications that you have considered to be great? I am thinking an quaife lsd, intercooler, remap and the Monza exhaust. We are possibly looking to buy a second hand one in he next couple of weeks so all advice would be greatly appreciated thumbsup

If you get the Essesse version it will be mapped already. The ones we have worked on got good gains from adding a full exhaust system.

fcuk remapping unless its the EssEss as that is atleast Fiat warrantied. DO NOT consider one of those piggy back boxes that does sensor fooling!!!! I dont give a sh*t how well lorded they are on the Abarth forum. The only thing the A500 feels a little lacking is braking. Sure she stops but I do like brakes that make you faceplant the windscreen :) We have the Pirelli Neros on there and its got endless grip wet or dry :) Ian, are there any quieter exhausts for them as having a single backbox from the factory is pissing me off a little bit  The Mrs wanted a 500, I agreed on the basis its an Abarth as its not as gay as a normal 500 :) (still gay but meh its one of the best all round cars I have ever driven, and I'm a car slut).

We have a 500 abarth. I think the only thing worth doing would be a remap. In standard form they are pretty nippy and I love the sound of the standard exhaust. Just buy it and drive it. Lots of smiles per miles value.

I shall 'mod' it towards the end of November though.... Different wheels for winter tyres (or new wheels we like for the summers and put the winters on the current kerbed items  )

Would be out of warranty so wouldnt be an issue. I would get it properly 'mapped' most likely by rs tuning in Leeds. thumbsup

What is it like to drive compared to your old Clio?

 @ properly mapped..... Folks might learn at some point about the bodge 99% of the remapping industry is. It's infinitely better to drive than the Clio. Clio needed an LSD (plate only as atb's suck balls) but the 500 doesn't feel lacking in the front end department. As said, the only drawback is the softer braking than I like.
