Basically I'm replacing my turbo cus the oil seals went. Now my tubby is said to have had a vxr replacement, and the one I've bought is said to be a gsi turbo. Now I've looked at them and they look identical, even nearly all the codes and numbers are the same and even both actuators have a sticker saying "DZ"

So, perhaps a little guidance? Never thought it would be this difficult

VXR will have a pink number plate and the turbo outlet will be ribbed also the oil feeds will be different

They both have pink plates, ribbed boost outlets and the oil feeds are the same. So judging by that I'm guessing my suspected gsi purchase is in fact a vxr?

Yep, I think so. Another clues is that the DZ sticked on the actuator indicates it is the slightly uprated one that came as standard with the VXR turbo.

So I've established they're both vxr turbos then :) it seems that my replacement second hand one has bent blades /: tbh my blown one is in better condition. Is it expensive to get it rebuilt? It was the oil seals that failed. The replacement also has a fair amount of play in the shaft, prob just over a mm. I've got a video that ill upload soon, as I don't fancy my chances using the replacement.
