Is sh*t. It's a need for speed rip off, ruined a serious racing series. Street racing? WTF! The demo starts the game in a street race, there are speed cameras that you get "respect" for going through as quick as you can. Oh and there is NO damage, so no need to break or steer properly. Still no weather... 3/10 only plus side is it gets dark.

Why they focussed their energy on some stupid spin-off using the same framework, rather than enhancing the framework to add yet more realism to the car and environment (weather etc.) I have no idea :S They don't need to compete with Need For Speed... they have the best simulation game.

TBH i'm massivly dissapointed, the only thing I read before getting the demo was the "free roam". I thought great a simulation enviroment to drive exotic on the road.. I can't understand why they thought they needed to change the gameplay completly. If this is a sign of things to come for forza 5.. I'll certanly not be getting it. Ok new market and all that but its like us (VX220) owners adding ripspeed stickers to appeal to a different market when selling our cars!

I love it. Great sound track, great roads, great race ideas (you race a fecking plane!). I think it will keep me interested for a lot longer than the NFS series. Forza is great for posting good hot laps, but I really struggle to stay interested when racing the AI and online, you get screwed at the first corner.

I'm still yet to try it but the premise sounds good to me; as long as the physics engine is the same as F4 but with a free-roam and road network environment I think I'll be happy.

Does it have a split screen option? (old skool guy; my multiplayer means sharing the fun a bit face to face)

Steve

There is a demo on XBL Steve, if you want to try it for yourself. Think it will be available to non-gold users tomorrow.

This is what all the lying twattish reviewers say, I haven't played Forza 4 but unless it was a big step down from Forza 3 then they're doing their usual thing of talking complete shite because they've received a nice pay bonus to plug the 'big' games.

Just had a bash at the demo, I think it's ok to be honest. I think everyone is kicking off because it's got forza in the name. As a standalone game I think it could be ok, just don't expect a forza game. Turned off all the assists and set steering to simulation and it feels pretty good on-road handling but not So sure on the off-road handling. 30fps definitely feels like a let down after being used to forza 4 that's for sure.

Oh the crash physics are rubbish as well compared to forza 4, head on into another car and you just bounce off a bit, a lot like old gran turismo's (dunno what recent GT is like).

I find the driving dynamics of all the forza games a bit bland/gamey. I like the modification and really good graphics in the forza games. For a tiny drop in graphics at times, and a little less artistic licence with the cars, GT5 wins hands down, the budget has been used to make it a little more real, instead of a bit shiny

Bingo, Forza is for 'car geeks', this just opens it up as a competitor in the arcade world... and lets face it there arent many NFS competitors, ok PGR but they havent done a new one for fcuking years.

Also Microsoft own the exclusive licenses to Forza and Project Gotham, and Bizarre who made the Gotham series were sold to Activision then shuttered after Blur and Bloodstone bombed. I don't think MS want to split loyalties between Forza and Gotham.

I have to say I do think people are being harsh on this game. Yes the crash physics are rubbish but you couldn't easily do it any other way, and the off road handling does seem a bit crap but it's been a while since the last time I went full throttle down a dirt track in a Dodge Viper.

After Forza 4 they openly admitted that they had hit the ceiling of the X360 hardware, and all along they have said this is a side project. If they released Forza 5 it would just be a glorified car and track pack, so fair enough they want to release a new game without ripping people off.

I have to say as an open world arcadey style racing game it is by far the best I have played (on basis of demo). Much better than that pile of turd NFS Hot Pursuit.

My game arrived today. Car club is set up... VX220 Owners Club. 4 digit display code is V220. I have work off until my car is fixed so should be able to approve any requests to join quickly :)

One thing that annoyed me in the demo is I couldn't change it so that the accelerator/brake was on the right analog stick (because I like the clutch on the left trigger so it is properly analog not on/off like the LB1 button), don't suppose you know if that's the case in the full game?

Still can't get over the fact that you can play it like that! Baffles me.

Fair play, your times are consistently better than mine so it obviously works for you.
