So that's probably your problem.
The OBD tuner can disable the need for an EGR within the software, removing all need for the EGR cheater. Might be worth asking Peter what the best option is; either you enable EGR within the software (but that does come with some issues, such as changing the engine timing while EGR is expected to be working) or cutting the cheater out.

Its been a while since I updated this and whilst not much happened to the car last year, this spring it had a bit of a revamp. In the usual way, I flicked through the pages of Autotrader and thought about ditching the VX for something with more cylinders/a turbo/air con/switchable traction control/anthing different. But as ever, didnt find something that would have been as much of a laugh, for anything close to a figure I could afford. It then all got a bit more straight forward when Vocky was selling a new 2.4L forged engine at a good price. Seeing as I had been toying with the idea on and off for ages, I thought, why not...? So a few heated arguements with the wife later, and...

So with the arrival of a box fresh engine, I started to take apart the back end of the VX. I then realised that it would probably be a good time to sort out a few other bits and pieces
So added to the shopping list was a couple of new rear stays for the rear subframe to chassis, some Duralac for the chassis plates, and a proper ceramic coating of the manifold.
Then I spotted a cheap LSD on the forum, and of course I couldnt resist
Which was fitted by Matt Bentley with great results!

Got the box back and fitted up a new race clutch, lightened flywheel, and driveshaft seals, it went back into the car...
Must say a big thanks to Dunk G for his help with getting into tight spaces (its below my pay grade, plus Im too fat to fit) and to my other mate Alex for his help too. Was good to get some help with the heavy stuff.
The engine then slotted into place and everything bolted up...

With the clam back on and the engine fired up and running well, the car was finished up and back on its wheels. Went on a gentle trip to run the thing in and 500 miles later, its sweet as a nut.
But when I saw there was a Harrop going for sale cheap...

What power have you achieved with the m62?
Probably about the 270 mark, but never did a power run/dyno since the new engine went in...

Something arrived in the mail today...
Seeing as the weather was nice after work, I couldn't resist sticking it in
Still need to do the bulkhead mod to get access to the front supercharger bolts, plus get the TMAP wired up. But its looking good so far. It even (nearly!) matches the colour of the valve cover. Happy dayz.
