So now I am doing more miles with the misses living in Nottingham and travelling up from London, I need something more economical

The Stats

2004 04 plate (LW04 XTC if you want to HPI). I think it had a private plate on it at some point, but I like the fact it kind of says WHOA ECSTASY
231ps version
58500 miles
Coil packs replaced 6 months ago
Uprated HT leads
UK spec not import
Winning Blue
Full black leather
Heated front seats
Bose HiFI system
6 speed gear box

The good bits

No hot starting issues
New rear tyres around 1000 miles ago
Front tyres with plenty of tread
Pretty sure the cat was replaced at around 40k miles but I'll check
Oil checked religiously and topped up as necessary
Not as thirsty as some on oil (500ml every 1000 miles)
Drives and goes as it should

The bad bits

Couple of rust spots (just under the paint nothing major) in the usual places (around 3rd brake light, bottom of where the B pillar would be)
A couple of tiny dents where doors have been opened into it in car parks, but nothing unusual for an 8 and a half year old car
Small tear in the rear passenger seat cushion (previous owner tranporting a TV :beat: )

My experience

I personally have only covered a thousand miles or so in the car (the ex has had it for the past 8 months :( ), but my experience of the car is as follows... Great balance, revvy wankel sounds great and is very smooth, although they are always lumpy at idle due to the lack of flywheel, weight distribution is spot on, but easily ruined (and noticibly) by rear passengers and heavy luggage. Car handles brilliantly and is sooo easy at the limit of rear adhesion B) Driving it in the snow sucks balls (although that may have been down to having dead rear tyres...). Steering feel is not up there with the best and can be pretty wooden, especially at lower speeds, but once you start picking up the pace feedback starts coming. All in all I would say this. No I probably wouldn't buy another one, but yes, everyone should own one once. They are a completely different animal to a normal engined car and need TLC, but when you do that they are fantastic. Plus they look great :D (especially in Winning Blue ;) )

Buyers Guide

Would be pricing it at 1900 ovno and car is located in SW London and viewings are welcome.

Factor in the tax at 450+ then the mpg of 25, thats why they are cheap ;)

Great cars tho, good look with the sale.

To confirm, 12 months tax is the same price as the Vx (£270is) ;) And yes, similar ones are on at around £2,500 (so will probably sell at £2,200 tops), but I need rid ASAP as the fuel costs are killing me driving to Nottingham all the time :( Plus the tax is about to run out so I'm looking to hopefully sell before that happens. I have a couple of interested parties now and really need to sort some pictures, daylight just seems to be evading me right now :(

got any pics??? :)

I have one mate., but the upload function isn't working on here.... let me try and cross post from Photobucket...

M-u-s-t r-e-s-i-s-t. I want this so much. We nearly bought an ex demo in 2004 in this colour and spec and it was £25k.

Yeah, but still, seems like you get a hell of a lot for your money.

Good luck with the sale VXed, I'm sure it won't hang about for too long.

I'm looking for a shed and this is very tempting. The amount of car you get for the money is crazy. Good luck, this shouldn't hang about.

Mine doesn't use much oil  however 25mpg is generous! Motorway run to Nottingham last = 19mpg :beat:

I do funnily enough, what I don't have is a fuel sponsor.

If I test drive it, I will want it, so will Sarah. That would mean selling her Tino, then I would have to sell the Leon to buy a tow car.

I'm sure I saw an RX8 with a tow bar once.... although I wouldn't recommend it. Single figure fuel economy springs to mind....

This will be my replacement....

Any pictures of the interior and that tear in the seat? Also have you had the compression tested? (Been reading through that buyers guide as in a bit interested :) )

The tear is in the seat cusion on the rear passnger side seat. It is about 1.5 cm long and not noticable unless you are looking for it :) I haven't had a compression test done, but it starts fine when hot so haven't had any reason to. All viewers are welcome to have one completed at their expense. Tax runs out of Friday. I don't want to re-tax, but if I have to price will increase to £2,000. chinky chinky
