It's fantastic, I did quite a bit of looking into the algorithms involved with running such a complex world 'on the fly'. Is definitely going to be a purchase of mine!

I'm cautiously optimistic. Loved SimCity 2000 back in the day, but played number 3 or 4 and spent so long trying to micromanage refuse collection that I had a hissy fit and gave up. Much more excited about Prison Architect!

I've seen a huge amount of negativity towards it on forums, people saying it has been dumbed down a lot and turned into an EA cash cow (where the game is free but you have to pay for content to use in the game, and the free stuff is minimal so realistically you HAVE to buy stuff). Hope it's not going that way.

It's not freemium... It's £34.99 at amazon pre order or £42.99 at Game (with the "British Pack") I've preordered, it looks fab!

That just makes it even more irritating if they charge lots for the necessary add-ons as well! I fondly remember SimCity2000, and i tried 3000 when it was new (so long ago now) but it didn't take me. The cartoonyness of it felt wrong to me. No idea what the more modern ones are like. I'd quite like to play this one but tbh i have so little time these days i have to be careful what i spend my gaming time on :( I miss being a student with nothing to do

I adored Simcity 2000 and piled hours into it. Tried one of the later ones (3? 4?) and ended up spending ages trying to micromanage waste disposal and sewage, and thought to myself "why am I wasting my life with this?" and never touched it again. I would like another decent game in this style but I can't be bothered with anything to finickity, just gets tedious. I bought the alpha for prison architect though, so I have high hopes for that.

Transport Tycoon FTW :) even better with OTTD as it lets you frig the game if you just want to geek out making hyper efficient transport links or test out pointless methods of moving stuff. I had a load of mines generating billions of tons of coal with trains running it to some docks and then the docks using ships to run a massive distance to a power station, painfully inefficient but it was actually netting massive cash

:yeahthat: Seems to be the way everything is going these days :( . Forza Motorsport takes the p*ss, £60 for the VIP version (i.e. the only way to get all the launch cars) then £3.85 for each 10-car pack!? £3.85 doesn't sound too bad on it's but it means if you want all the cars you need to spend £80-100. Joke.

Might be able to get people a SimCity Origin serial key for around 26 if that sounds good to anyone?
