Since fitting the uprated cams the car sometimes stutters when pulling away after it has been idling for a while such as at traffic lights. Is there a different spark plug type that is less susceptible to this? Kind regards, Paul

As Vocky says the originals are good. As an alternative Denso ITV20 are good.

The poor idle is nothing to do with the plugs but the closed loop algorithm in the ecu. With the schrick cams I had perfect idle when locked in open loop for idle. This can be seen with the std ecu when you start from cold idle is ok then as the car warms up and closed loop activates the idle becomes lumpy. The wilder the cams the worse idle will be.

Hi, they are actually Piper. I have no real history of the timing as I bought them from a guy on the Z22SE site.... Paul

Paul the only way you will improve idle is with stand alone ecu or with the Dutch software where you can adjust the idle map. When the Dutch version 3 comes out it will have more adjustment within the idle map. If you just want a remap CS can increase the idle speed which will help you.

Many thanks for that. I may see if Liam can raise the idle a little as he is based around 15 miles from me. For me, driving to Cromer is a pain in the ass.

Thanks again, Paul

I have Piper regrinds and have a bit of a lumpy idle (oo err); unless it is too crazy I wouldn't be too concerned.

Saying that though, when I come back to the UK I'll be going down the Dutch Software road, but not necessarily for the idle correction.

All Dutch equipped cars with cams have the idle set at 900rpm.
