If it's been well looked after and all the appropriate things done eg. Timing chain, suspension refresh would be nice....mileage isn't a big thing.

Mileage is but a number, the further away from zero the better the car is likely to be screwed together. The Z22SE seems to be a smoother runner at 70k that many other engines at 40k.

It looks like my VX220 ownership will be delayed for a while. I've had my car up for sale for 2 weeks and not had one single inquiry. I can't really afford to buy a VX until it is sold. I even dropped the asking price by 800 quid and still not even the merest hint of a phone call. Looks like the second hand car market is extremely slow at the moment, especially for roadsters! Very frustrating!! :angry2:

Once the weather changes for the better things should improve.

Remember it can take a fortnight for the car to appear in some of the wider markets, as they start to trawl the likes of Pistonheads and Autotrader and cross reference to increase their 'for sale' sections.

My current car went on pistonheads today at a mucho cheep price so hopefuly it will go soon. I've got a PAX in a stage 2 VXT on Thursday (weather permitting) and I might be viewing one at the weekend. Exciting times! :)

Oh the VX is going to feel different to the Z. The pivot point is going to be the biggest difference. That looks a cracking example. Best of luck with the sale.

I owe a massive thank you to Simon AKA "spuk87" who very kindly took me out for a spin last night in his modded VXT, cheers bud. :)

My first VX220 experience started with me doing a sort of car review in my head:

"boot is a decent size for a small car"
"pain in the arse to get into the passenger seat"
"interior is a bit cramped but seats are comfortable"
"steering appears to be quite sharp"

Then Simon got to a bit of straight road and gave it a boot full, then the review in my head changed to something like this:

"POWER........speeeeeeeeeed................fast. ............POWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR"

It was at this point that my mind was made up that a VXT is the right car for me. Now the hunt begins to buy one.

I'm viewing a VXT this weekend, normally I would be asking if any body knows the car but there is no need in this case. I think this car will be familar to quite a few people on this website LOL:

http://www.vx220.org...3-262hp306lbft/

I put the car details into the search facility and got about a million hits!

I thought I would revive my newbie thread as I have a newbie question and don't want to start yet another tyre thread. I searched for hours and have found LOADS of tyre threads with lots of differing opinons on the size of the front tyres. My ABS has this nasty habit of taking my ability to stop the car away from me (ice mode is it???), it seems that it could be to do with tyre sizes. The car came fitted with 195/40/17's on the front and 225/45/17's on the rear, after a bit of research this tells me that the diameter of the front tyres are too small in comparison to the rears causing the ABS control unit to have a bit of a melt down. To be honest, I do most of my fast driving on the track with track day wheels and the ABS turned off. Is there any thing actually wrong with having standard 175/55/17's fitted on the front for road use? Will this make my ABS work a bit better?

Nothing really wrong with the 175/55's for road just a lack of choice. Will it make the abs work better? Possibly. If the tyre size is causing the issue then yes but I run standard tyre sizes and still have the odd problem with the abs. I'm yet to fit the 4 channel abs unit which many have reported to transform the breaking with abs left on.

I thought as much. I don't like the idea of spending money to fix something that should have worked in the first place but it seems to be unavoidable. I've seen the 4 channel abs unit for 350 quid, is that a good price?

Cant remember how much 'rrp' is for it. There was a group buy from chris neils lotus sometime ago. Excellent bunch of lads and they would be able to sort you out though no idea if they'd still be willing to do any kind of discount. If thats from uklotuscentre give them a good read up before buying from them. I'm not saying dont consider them but you need to be aware of how they 'operate'

Bought and paid for from Chris Neil Lotus, I mentioned that I was recommended from VX220.org and got a healthy discount. The number is 0160641481 (just in case any one else wants to buy one). Cheers for the heads up about uklotuscentre, not too sure about that outfit. :o
