dont worry it will soon be summer HH through the window is best bet though, but check the plugs as well, or just plain condensation under the mats

Taken mats out, it's dry everywhere above, seems to seeping in along seal, would that be side windows or windscreen ? About a mug worths of water appeared in an hour, should there be drain holes in the sills?

Check the seal on the bottom of the window guttering and that the drain holes in it ate clear.

Think yourself lucky it's a vx. I have had a leak in my mg zt for a while now. I think I have fixed it but sorting the sodden 2 inches of spongy carpet throughout the whole car is a nightmare. Sometime this summer the whole interior will have to come out. :-(((

Unless you park at an angle, you should get water on the plastic sill if the seals around the windscreen are leaking. They usually leak about half way up the side of the windscreen where it kinks out, the seal comes away from the windscreen. A dab of superglue should keep it in place. IF there isn't water collecting on the sill, you might have water coming from somewhere else. It could be some dodgy bonding but I would be very surprised. If you're feeling brave I would suggest pouring a little water into the footwell and watching the underside of the car to see if it's coming out anywhere. Worst case have a few sponges close to hand to mop it up.

Are you sure it's a mugs worth? A little bit of water looks like a sh*t load when on the flat floor. Mine took ages to dry out when I hadn't fully closed the window as it keeps evaporating then condensing on the metal and re-pooling in the footwell. Ended up sticking the mats behind a radiator and taking both the centre console and forward "U" section out to dry everything out properly.

Check out my project thread. It has a pic of the old type seals without the 'cups' at the top corners. Cant remember but might have a pic of the new ones but it's very obvious if you have them.

I had this problem some time back, but it was both footwells - turned out to be a perished grommet where the wiring loom enters the car - worth a check?
