Plenty of threads previously about this but always takes me a while to catch up! My 1st / 2nd gear change always was 'notchy' especially when cold even with the gearbox oil just being changed for RedLine MT90, we put 1.9lts in and the OE spec is about 1.75lts Reading on here and other ZLET sites that as long as you have a breather fitted the box works a lot better with 2.2/2.3ltrs in so topped it up yesterday & took the car over to see Liam @ MMG today which is about a 100 mile round trip, the gearbox is noticeably smoother, much much better, and 1st / 2nd just slides in cold or hot :) Amazing how just another 400ml of oil has made such a difference thumbsup

I need to do mine this weekend but can't find the level check plug? Or did you just put in around 2.2ltrs and leave it to it?

Level plug is on the side facing the rear of the car. You need to have the gearbox breather pipe on to add the extra otherwise your rear left tyre will get a little messy. If your adding extra you won't need to touch the level plug. Filling plug is on the top

I've added a breather pipe and found the filler just struggling to spot the level. Will have to have a good look for it, just out of interest. On the basis of MrSimbas advice I think I will go for a slight overfill anyway.

I didn't bother checking the level on mine, just drained and refilled with around 2.3 litres. Obviously fitted the breather first.

If you drop the rear tray the level plug is very visible, I just got a syringe and put another 400ml in :)

I ran 2.25ishL with no breather pipe... ok sometimes when kicking her head in you could smell/ see the oil but for day to day it was never noticeable  Drain, fill with 2LMin (leave level bung in). Job done.

I'm sure its not that visible. I think its against an engine mount or the subframe. Either way when I did it it as easier to drain the oil and replace it with fresh stuff, measure just over two litres and happy days.

Definatly would not try it without a syringe and length of silicone pipe to top the oil up, no way you'll pour anything through the level hole!

But if you've got that it'll take you longer to remove the diffuser than top up the box! :)

I meant to remove the level plug is a ball ache its easier to start from scratch and know how much your putting in.

Always found level plug quite easy to remove doubt you'd get a socket on it but a long 8mm hex key is all good :)
